Is he the one?

A tiny voice asked, "Is he the one?"

The 'he' is question lay sleeping in his bed. Tucked in tight, the only part of him moving was his eyes as he slept. That tiny voice was carried into the boys head and into his dreams.

The boy woke in a deep forest. The trees tall and univiting. Yellow eyes blinked him from various vantage points around him. High in the black trees, burrows in the ground and behind poison bearing bushes. The boy was filled with fear, head to his little toe! How did he get here? Was this a dream or real? 

He pushed himself against a tree and brought his knees to his chest. For comfort and for warmth. The forest was quiet as if it were waiting to make the first move.

He did!

"Hello. Mum? Dad? Where am I?" The boy got no reply. His voice was high and squeaky proving to those who were listening just how terrified he was. His eyes watered threatning to spill its load but a voice stopped them.

"Is he the one?" 

The voice echoed around the forest. 

"Who's there?" His voice cracked as he spoke. His head moved left, right, ahead. He stretched to see behind him, trying to find the source of the voice. As he turned to his original postion, a clawed foot apeared close to him coming into the moonlight, he wimpered in fear.

A second foot joined the first. The boy looked up at the strange creature. He couldn't hold it in, he screamed!

The boy sat up straight in his bed, panting and sweating. He took in his surroundings for familarity and safety. Everything looked normal. Clothes still on the floor, toys in awkward spots. Normal. Then he saw his window. It was open and two spects of light floated in his room and steadied before his eyes. 

His curtains flapped in the breeze. The wind spoke to him, "Is he the one?" or was it the floating lights?

What was that?? Monsters? Fairies? His teddy bear?!
