Helix looked over the suit case that sat on the bed in front on him, the stacks of books beside it, then the girl beside the books.Wearing the blue bracelet he got her just days ago.
She was leaving today, it made him feel empty. Like a hollow tree, an abandoned parking lot.
"Helix," she asked as she fiddled with the bracket on her wrist. He looked up from it, right into her eyes.
Gosh were her eyes a beautiful dark brown.
"Yes?" He answered back, his voice scratchy.
"I'm sorry...you know I don't want to go..." she said trailing off. He shook his head.
"Yeah, I know."
Getting up from his bed he made his way over to her, taking her by the arm to lift her up to eye level, well almost eye level.
He hugged her, his arms around her shoulders, her face in his chest. Today was the last day they would ever see eatch other, they both knew it.
"Charlie, don't forget me. Okay?"
She mumbled back a "mhm," and let go of him, her eyes now red.
"I have to go now Helix." She squeaked, her voice getting off tune from her emotions.
He nodded again. Grabbing her suit case and the few books as she headed to the door. Turning around she sent him a small smile. He returned it.
"Goodbye Charlie."
