I think it's about time to explain about mine and Niall's...baggage.
We were having a, what you would call, summer 'fling', and yes, it was the best summer of my life. I sound like a vicar at christmas.
I won't, actually I refuse to go into any form of detail and/or synopsis of the procedings of the festivities of that eventful, heartbreaking summer. God. Where to being.
Niall had taken me away secretly to his family lake house; (of course he has a lake house!) as a surprise getaway before going back to school and entering sixth form. Things happened, we got closer, and Bob's your Uncle, Fanny's your Aunt we were a. Happy face.
Now. Don't say anything. Anything.
It was a leap year. Im a traditional girl.
I think you know where this is going.
He threw the ring into the lake in his supposed disgust.
My late mothers engagement ring may i just add.
That was obviously the end. It was the end of alot of things...
"Ellie?"
I saw Niall coming over to me. I looked behind him for Carmen but she was no where to be seen.
I may be 18 next month, but i cam still choose to use the silent treatment.
''We need to talk.'' He didn't have his natural facial expression of an absent minded chimp portraying vividly, and his voice sounded deadly serious.
I still did't say anything, but I stopped walking.
''It's Carmen.'' He immediatly grabbed my attention with both hands. ''She's gone. Dissapeared.''
In the last 15 minutes?
''When you left, she started to feel dreadfully dizzy and fell to the ground. I ran to get help but when I came back...''
I felt a wave of worried rage come over me. ''You idiot, you just left her! How stupid could you get. And another thing; when I left?! You were the one who..''
''LOOK, THERE'S NO TIME FOR THIS!'' I'd never seen him so passionate. The only thing he's ever been worried about is himself.
''Do you know if she was consious when you left her?'' Still can't believe he did that.
''Well she was one the floor, eyes closed, so I assume so. God. How could I let this happen?!''
''Listen, no you shouln't have left her there, but it wasn't your fault that she fell in the first place. She's under alot of stress in the school department. You know that.''
''Of course I do I love her for god sack!''
This sentence. This one sentence. There was a knife twisting, slowly, slowly, and then a...puncture. He never told me me loved me. Not once. I told him. Because I did. I loved him, and now I know, I still do.
