A/N: I do not own any of the characters apart from my OC Ellen

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I walked through the white industrial doors to my office: a forensic lab with various little toys for me to play with. I was amazed by the amount of equipment there was and distracted by excitement that I didn't even notice the man behind the microscope.

"Can I help you?" He said, looking annoyed.
"Oh urm, I was just told to come in here, urm by Molly, she's another scientist-"
"Yes I know who Molly is," he said in a bored tone. "But why are you in here?"
"Oh right, I'm the new forensic scientist, I'm Ellen Lestrade," I extending my hand towards him but he made no movement to shake it so I withdrew it.

"Lestrade? As in Detective Lestrade of Scotland Yard?" He asked taken aback, as if I had just appeared naked in front of him.
"Yes I'm his sister, do you know my brother?" I asked politely.
"Yes," his face bent down to the microscope as if to signal that the conversation was over but he carried on. "I'm the man who usually solves his cases."

"Wait you're Sherlock Holmes?" I asked amazed, I never expected to meet him on my first shift.
"Yes I am," his tone of voice seem even more bored now.

"I thought you would be, uhm I don't know," I cut myself off before I embarrassed myself. What I wanted to say was that I thought he would be less beautiful. Not a gorgeous human carved from stone.

In that moment Molly walked into the room, smiling at Sherlock and me chirpily. "I've seen you met Sherlock then."
"Yes, interesting man, so any cases I can work on?" I asked my excitement returning and quickly getting the topic off Sherlock.
Molly looked down and started fiddling with the glass beakers that stood in front of her. "Well at the moment no one has brought anything in, so it's just a waiting game. But there's plenty of things to do, I can show you how to use some of the equipment."
"Okay then," I said smiling but slightly disappointed at the lack of crime in London.

I followed Molly over to the other side of the room, I could feel his eyes watching me like a hawk, as if I was a chemical he was trying to identify. Suddenly he got up and collected his coat from the table, Molly turned instantly to him.
"Thanks for the coffee Molly."
"Get everything you need?"
"Oh yes, the wife tried to kill him with poison, it was evident due to the high amount of dimethylmercury in his blood." He said smiling as if the man just had a common cold.

Without another word Sherlock left, leaving me and Molly alone to tinker with the equipment and to leave me pondering about the impression the man had just made on me.
