At 11 o'clock I finally get home, after a conversation with Sherlock, telling me I have potential, Greg rudely interrupts and tells me to go home. He obviously has a problem with Sherlock, probably due to the fact that he always has to get him to solve his cases, but it doesn't give him the right to be rude to me.
"You're done here Ellen, go home." He said coming between me and Sherlock.
"But you haven't got the suspect yet, I want to see if Sherlock is right," I said adding a smile towards Sherlock, who was staring at the back of Greg's head.
"Well I don't want you to get mixed up in things," he said, his eyes like daggers.
"I'm not getting mixed -" I started.
"Just go home Ellen."
I turned on my heels and store out with the dignity I had left, furious at my brother. I didn't look back at Sherlock.
So now I home, after ages trying to look for a cab, and to be honest all the excitement had tired me out, it had also run out by this time so I was only filled with anger. Ugh how could he treat me like a child in front of all those people! He's not the boss of me!
I threw my bags on the coffee table and collapsed on the couch, sighing with exhaustion. I pulled off my coat and scarf, thinking of Sherlock with his high collars. God he was so mysterious, and his hair was so god damn curly. I smiled to myself. Handsome men are always trouble, my best friend Cara always said to me.
My thoughts came to a halt when my phone started ringing. Fishing it out of my bag I answered it, not even looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
"Hey babe, you forgot to call!" Said a deep voice on the other end.
Shit it was Alan. The boyfriend I had forgotten about.
"Sorry I had my first case." I said trying to sound pleased that he called.
"Wow that's great, yeah It was hot today, and extremely busy considering it's nearly Christmas, New York is packed full of tourists!" Alan said bored.
And that's it he was off, talking about himself as he usually does. In the last 5 previous calls that I have made to him, I always had the intention to end it with him. Ever since he arrived in America he was so self absorbed. It angered me that he thought my new job meant nothing really, not when he was designing signs and logos for companies.
I have to break it off with him, tonight, I thought to myself as he started moaning about his boss.
"So any ways my flight is at half 4 in the morning on Thursday, you'll be at the airport to receive me won't you?" He said.
"What," I said in an almost shouty voice.
"I'm coming down for Christmas remember? Someone must be tired," he said with a patronising tone.
Oh god, I forgot!
"Urm I'm working Thursday and I can't get out of it," I said lying. I was going to have to make plans quickly.
"Oh okay that's fine I'll order a taxi, okay well I have to go, have a meeting in ten minutes."
"Okay," I said relieved that he was finally hanging up.
"Alright, bye love you!"
"Love you too," I said with no emotion.
I hung up and threw the phone onto the coffee table. God I had dug myself a massive hole! How was I going to end it now!
