Our Jamaican athletes are very clutch (excluding Asafa Powell). You would think our athletes can be found in a vehicle with manual transmission. Clutch in its day to day usage might be defined as "a mechanism for connecting and disconnecting an engine and the transmission system in a vehicle, or the working parts of any machine". However in this context clutch is defined as "achieving or characterized by success at a critical moment in a game or competition". This definition showcases what we have experienced multiple times on the world stage.

My experiences with our athletes achieving success against the odds were the 2004 Summer Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece. It was the 200m finals for women, our athletes in that event were Veronica Campbell now Veronica Campbell – Brown (VCB) and Aleen Bailey. The massive stadium lights shone on our representatives it reflected rays of black, green and gold as they settled and entered their blocks. The starter's gun went off sounding around the stadium, for someone outside the stadium it might have been a fire rocket but for those inside the massive Olympic stadium, they knew it meant the start of something. The start of Jamaica's dominance in the sprinting events because Veronica Campbell has done it, she has took her foot off the gas STEPPED into the clutch changing the gear.

Fast forward... We have dominated and showed our brilliance in athletics throughout the years.

We are now at the 2015 IAAF Championships; talk has surfaced that an athlete of ours will be losing at one our favoured events. Our athlete would not be finishing first, in an event we have dominated over the years. It started as a slight doubt but the propaganda spread around the world, around the galaxy so quickly it reminded me of a world record that has been set by that athlete. The athlete is Usain "lightning" Bolt, he was delivered from the heavens by Zeus to walk among us mortals, to display and disprove the theory that "lightning cannot strike the same place twice". The thing is order to be a clutch athlete one must ease up on the gas in order to change into a higher gear and Usain Bolt did just that. He eased up out of his starting block slowly igniting the flames and stepped down hard on his clutch, the change of gear frightened the other competitors. He was then attacked hard by Justin "the conductor" Gatlin, he is called the conductor because of the amount of silver (medals) he has to his name. Then time slowed down as we all came to witness Usain "lightning" Bolt releasing slowly off his clutch, shifting into a higher gear and pulverised his gas medal easing swiftly and gracefully ahead of the field. Our people, our Jamaica, our world, our galaxy was sent into a frenzy as we all were witnesses to the vehicular manslaughter with only Usain "lightning" Bolt emerging out of the carnage as champion.

Big up all our athletes, We love unu, mhm a i
