I saw voluptuous curves calling to me through the window and I couldn't help but drool. The vibrant colors adorning God's amazing creation had me dizzy with desire for the fine specimen. You know the palpitations your heart feels when you know you're living a moment that was going to change your life forever, well this was it. I was face to face with destiny and she was calling my name. I rushed into the coffee shop and slapped $20 down on the counter.

"Hello, how can I help you today?"

"That. Now." I responded like a primitive cave man as I pointed to the cupcake of my fucking dreams.

"It's only $2 dollars..." I nearly fainted at how cheap my love was being sold for.

"You would sell that cupcake for $2! Two DOLLARES SIR! Like a cheap hooker in the redlight district displayed in a window for all to see?!?

"Yes..." The cashier said.

"Fine I'll have 5, you can keep the change," I responded. The man, who no doubt thought I was crazy, put my babies in a bag way too slowly. I glared at him until he looked up at me and rang me up a little faster. He handed me the bag and I couldn't help but crack the bag open and inhale. The smell of sugar hit me like a shot of pure happiness.

"Fuck..." I said dreamily. I looked up to see the annoyed cashier staring at me. I took the hint and left the bakery with my little darlings.

I promised myself that I wouldn't get any sweets today but I couldn't help it. Life was hard for a food addict and no matter where I went in New York City, I was surrounded by it. This was maybe the 1,000th diet I was going to ruin with a cupcake.

As I scurried back to work, the cupcakes felt like stones in my arms. A sweat had broken out on my forehead as I resisted the urge to taste the sweet morsels. I started out saying that I was getting my creative team a little pick me up for lunch, but now it was clear that I was lying to myself and God.

I reached the headquarters of Millennial Magazine and rushed for the elevator. I pushed the button and waited for the doors to slide open. I started bouncing on my feet impatiently, praying that the damn thing would hurry up. By the 5 second mark I knew the Lord was testing me.

Finally the doors flew open. Inside I pushed the button for the 11th floor and continued to bounce. It's just one cupcake, I reasoned. I swear on my life I had nothing to do with the cupcake appeared in my hand! None the less it was there like a frosting covered miracle. Did the people of Israel deny God when manna appeared from heaven? No, so I ate the bitch.

The doors of the elevator opened to reveal a sad, chubby, gay boy, holding a deflated bag from Candice's Bakery.

"Adam, again?" My best friend Claire shook her head at me.

"I know, I was supposed to stick to the diet.. But I just.." I started to feel dirty like I always did after I ate something I wasn't supposed to. The sugar coating my fingers made me feel gross and ashamed and I felt close to tears.

"Don't worry," Claire's face softened. "I ordered some from a bakery down the street. I was going to wait for them but you can do that and take the credit."

Claire smiled and went back to the conference room where the rest of the team was. I rushed to the bathroom and washed off the frosting then rushed to the elevator just in time to intercept the delivery boy.

I grabbed the box of cupcakes, signed the receipt and took them to the conference room. When I entered everyone's eyes were on me.

"Wow, he actually didn't eat them all!" Brittney announced. The rest of the group suppressed their laughs but it didn't dull the hurt I felt.
