~ (N.) "the realization that each passerby has a life as vivid and complex as yours." ~

My eyes fluttered open groggily as they landed on the alarm clock in front of me.
8:30 AM

I jumped up at the acknowledgement of how late I would be to work.

Late late late late late late

I mentally scolded myself as the blankets were thrown off of my bed, and slipped on my white collared dress with the black polka dots, And slid my black flats on while brushing my teeth.

Multitasking queen amiright? Nope? Okay.

I applied very light makeup and rushed out the door, forgetting to brush my bird nest hair. I gathered my brunette mane into a low bun and tied it tightly so it would stay in place. I must have looked like a psychopath mental ward escapee the way I was practically leaping to work like some deranged gazelle. Strands of hair fell from my bun and flew into my eyes as the wind blew as fast as I was running. Eventually the shop came into view and I could sense the blisters that were going to appear on my feet from the too small shoes I geniously decided to wear.

"I'm Here!" I yelled breathlessly, crashing into the door as I tripped over my own two feet and fell into a waitress carrying a tray of waters.

"Oh my god I'm so sorry" I quickly got up to help her.

"No worries, I got this!"

I smiled gratefully as I ran into the kitchen nearly tripping into another waiter

"Olivia you always exude such grace"

Ms. Mcfarley said laughing as she glanced down at my soaking wet dress, and my messy hair.

"I'm so so sorry I'm late Ms. Mcfarley, I set my alarm but I guess it didn't go off this morning and I'm so stressed and I ran here so fast and I'm out of breath and I crashed into that waitress and.."

She quickly cut me off.

"Livvy why don't you come upstairs with me and you can get cleaned up. we don't want our customers thinking they receive service from hoodlums do we?"

I nodded and followed her upstairs to her little apartment. She and her husband lived there after the café was established, and after her husband passed away she couldn't bear to leave the memory of him, so she has lived here ever since. She walked to a small dusty trunk and clicked open the small hinges on the side.

"This was my old chest that held all of my favorite dresses. It would be a shame to see them go to waste as I see I won't be able to wear them anytime soon"

She held up a strapless white lace dress and handed it to me.

"This looks about your size Livvy, I wanted to save it for someone special, and now seems to be the time."

"Thank you so much Ms. Mcfarley, I will definitely try it on"

She gestured to a small bathroom in the corner, and I slipped on the white dress. Sure enough, it fit perfectly. The white dress complimented my tanned skin and hazel eyes, and slimmed my tall and lanky figure. I removed my bun from its rubber band and raked my fingers through my hair in effort to tame it. Sure enough I succeeded and my hair fell in its long brunette waves down my back.
