All I have to do is get up. Just swing my two legs around and sit up. Why is living so hard?

First world problems.

Beep.

I don't know why I bother setting alarms, I end up pressing stop to all of them every day. I really don't have motivation to get up quickly. Every time I try, I can hear my pillows calling me back, singing "Alexaaaaa, Alexa come on, Ale-"

"Alexa, come on!" I hear, paired with repetitive knocking on the door. I must have fallen back to sleep, my bad. I can't help my inability to sleep early, and why would I want to go to school earlier than I need to?

"Yeah, I'm getting up!" I yell, hoping they could hear. I finally slump out of bed and shuffle into the bathroom. I promise I don't always complain, but I definitely do 80% of the day. Mum believes I should see someone and get tested for depression, since I'm so negative and dead all the time, and have sleeping problems, but it's really just teenager things. I just don't understand why the school's believe it's necessary to have students attend at 8 am in the morning. I know education is vital for a good career but why can't we start from 10:30 until 3:30? I bet $50 that students would look less like the walking dead and more like a field of daisies, maybe not that nice but it's school, what do you expect?

Today is the 22nd, and my first day at my new school; also the beginning of Project Popular. I don't know whether I should be excited to meet new people or nervous because there is a 99.9% chance that my plan won't work and I'll end up as miserable as last year. I doubt it'll be as bad as last year considering, the girls once 'accidentally' pushed me in the school's pool on free dress day when I was wearing bright underwear and white pants. All the boys called me "Pinkie" for a month. It wouldn't be a bad nickname if it weren't for the reasoning. Mental note: stay away from fluorescent underwear.

I finally leave the safe enclosure, called my room, and stamp down the stairs to the kitchen. I can't wait for food, I feel like I haven't eaten in days.

"Oh my god, Alexa, pick up your feet," my mum complains, leaving the room. All I'm doing is dragging my feet, it's not that loud.

"Jeez Lex, you sound like a zombie," Sam adds, snickering.

"JeEz Lex, yOU sOunD LiKE a ZOmbIe." I mock and roll my eyes, "Shut up, Sam."

Sam is my irritating, younger brother. He's sixteen, only a year younger, but always tries to antagonize me. He pisses me off, but we get along very well and I can always talk to him about anything. He's actually quite good looking too and has a more exciting love life than me. His scruffy brunette hair has natural golden highlights that compliment his emerald eyes; all the girls go wild for him. They're the words from the girls' at my old school, not me. I would rather throw up than admit that was right.

"Woah, someone didn't sleep enough." He holds his arms up to surrender, explaining he was only joking.

"I'm aware," I respond blankly. Who would've known? "Excited for your first day?"

"I had to leave all of my best friends and now I have to start brand new. I had a whole image at our old school." Sam picks up an apple from the table and starts to walk out, "But, I'm hoping it'll be good."

I grab an apple too and head back to my room to start getting dressed. After a shower, I put on my strategically planned outfit and search for my bag. For my outfit, I settled on a black and red plaid skirt, black shirt and high top connies. It's not very interesting, but it's tight, a bit short and flattering. I did put on a bit of makeup, but that's part of my routine. I don't want to dress too fancy and look like I'm trying too hard.

After I find my bag, I yell for Sam to get to the car and I jump into my car. I sadly have to wait for my brother every morning to drive him to school, but he'll probably want me to drop him a street away so he doesn't have to walk in with his "embarrassing sister".

It had been several minutes and Sam finally arrived outside. He gets into the car and I drive to the new school. I'm kind of excited to arrive and to meet some friends. I'll actually have someone else to gossip too instead of Sam. I also won't have to deal with his snarky comments and jokes about my lack of friends. We drive into the car park and are shocked. This school is massive, especially for a state school. There are so many trees, flowers and quiet places to sit. I had previously looked at pictures online too, and I know there are four ovals, two basketball courts, six tennis courts, and a pool. My old school didn't even have an oval!

We slide out of the car and start walking towards the school. We have to head separate ways to find our year level area because there are boards to look at to find out which homeroom we're in and then we'll get our timetables. Before we leave Sam states,

"Don't forget Lex, if you don't make friends on your first day, you can always come sit with me." Simply a nice gesture, apart from him poking out his tongue.

"I thought I was meant to say that to you," scruffing up his hair. "I know that's a snide comment but I know you're not joking too. I'll be okay, thank you, Sam."

We say goodbye and walk in opposite directions. This will be fun.

A/N: So, that is chapter one. I hope you enjoy it, even though it's not very entertaining. Not much tea since they haven't started school yet. But, I actually have a lot of ideas and I'm excited to write the next chapters. This chapter is completely different to the original and I have removed the other three chapters because the story line has changed and I have removed characters. Anyway, if you do like it, don't forget to VOTE and SHARE!

And, comment if you have any ideas, opinions or don't understand anything.

Okay, byeeee - Ellie x
