that tuesday, taehyung walked into his chemistry class for the last time. his professor wasn't going to lecture the class anymore about the composition, properties, and reactions of matter.

the class sat down and the professor rose from his desk with a bitter sweet smile on his face. he pointed to the stack of papers on his desk discreetly, causing a great majority of the class to groan. he chuckled a little before speaking.

"although this final accounted for a quarter of your grade, i am quite surprised that many of you did very well." he picked up the tests sitting on his desk and flipped through them. "many of your grades didn't drop very much, and some of you even made it to the borderline--i'm quite proud of you all."

he began walking up and down the rows passing out the tests. all around the room, you could hear sighs of relief or happy squeals. taehyung was growing even more anxious by the second. what if he hadn't done as well as he expected? what if he completely misread the entire test and failed everything? what if--

"good job taehyung." his professor placed the final test on taehyung's desk. the boy almost cried tears of joy. on the front cover of the final was a big a- written in thick red ink.

taehyung hurriedly flipped through the test, he made a few mistakes here and there on some questions he had absolutely no idea what they were asking. despite all this, he was still extremely happy at his results and his reward that was about to come.

hyunae was standing outside of the classroom waiting for taehyung to exit. she watched as the flood of students left the building, saying goodbye to the professor. hyunae peaked into the classroom to see that taehyung was talking to the professor.

"hyunae!" the professor called happily, motioning the girl to come inside. she bowed her head politely as she entered.

"hyunae, you won't believe it!" taehyung chirped happily while bouncing up and down. he handed his test over to hyunae and she smiled upon seeing a glimpse of the score.

"taehyung this is absolutely amazing!" she said while flipping through the test, "i knew you could do it!"

"i was quite surprised to be honest." the professor spoke up, "taehyung did the best out of the entire class. despite his struggles in the beginning, i'm glad he ended the semester so strongly."

after a few more minutes of talking, the two bid a final goodbye to their beloved chemistry professor. hyunae and taehyung were walking in a comfortable silence until the boy grabbed the girl's hand. she looked down at the intertwined fingers, shocked at his bold move.

"w-what are you doing?" she asked tentatively as she felt her hand beginning to grow sweaty.

"isn't this what boyfriends and girlfriends do?" he asked with a mischievous smirk plastered on his face. hyunae blushed but couldn't help the smile the tugged on the corner of her lips.

"i-i guess so." she said while letting out a breath she had been holding.
