Chapter 6:

Jamie's POV:

As I wake up from my regular nightmare, I run to the bathroom and grab the knife, slashing away at my stomach. At least no one checks my stomach anymore.

As I hear the creaking of the floor boards, I set the knife down on the counter.

"Jamie? It's Louis." the figure whispers.

"I can't do this anymore, Louis." I say.

"Don't hurt yourself, love."

"Why not? I have a freaking constant amnesia disorder now and I can't even remember that Liam's favorite color is purple and mine is tied between yellow and green." I whisper.

As I realise what I just said, I feel two strong arms wrapped around me.

"I should just die, Louis. I mean there's no point for me to bother you if you don't love me, in fact, you pretty much proved you hate me." I whisper, letting tears fall freely down my face.

"Don't say that!" he hisses.

"Is this blood that I feel?" he asks.

"Yea. I may be cutting again....."

"Jamie!"

"It's not like you care."

"Jamie, I love you, though. I always have."

"Then why, Louis?" I ask. "Why would you put me through all this pain? Why would you marry Eleanor and get her pregnant? Why would you do that to your best friend?"

"I think we both know, you're more than just a friend." he whispers as he leans in and presses his lips gently against mine.

He pulls away and I look up at him.

I see Eleanor holding his shoulders, the knife I was using against his neck.

"Don't." I say. "If you want to kill somebody, kill me."

"No, Jamie. I won't let you die because of me." Louis says stretching his hand out towards mine. He grabs my hand and I smile.

Zayn walks by and he looks at Eleanor and then at me.

'Call the police?' he writes on a piece of paper and shows me.

I nod very slightly and he runs back to his room, not making a sound.

Then, there's Niall.

He runs down the hall, then screams.

Eleanor drops the knife, scraping Louis's neck.

He doesn't say anything, just points the knife towards her.

I grab the knife when he holds it out towards me.

"Eleanor, you little-"

"SURPRISE!" everybody cuts me off.

"What? Surprise? What are you talking about?" I ask.

"Everything was just a prank." Harry grins sheepishly.

"What are you talking about?" I ask.

"Everything, Louis hating you and getting Eleanor pregnant and marring her, him breaking up with you, everything is a prank. It was fake." Spencer says.

"I hate you! I just hate you!" I scream and run back into my room and locking the door.

The window.

I walk across the room and open the window.

The cool air blew in, releasing a smell of morning dew. When it made contact with my skin, the rain gave me goosebumps.

I climb so I'm sitting on the ledge of the window sill.

"So this is the story of my life, huh?" I whisper to the wind, and the dead bird on top of a nearby roof.

"I LOVE YOU, GUYS! I'LL SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE!" I scream into the room behind me.

I immediately hear the lock being jimmied more and more.

"Please don't do it, Jamie." Spencer says through the door.

The door opens and I jump, shutting my eyes and waiting for the impact.

There is none.

I open my eyes and look up, only to see Louis, Niall, and Jack holding onto my arms, pulling me up.

"Stop that!" Liam yells when I'm back in my room.

"No guarentees, Liam." I say and sit on my bed.

"Jamie," Louis says, kneeling in front of me. "Never do that again. Please. I can't live if you aren't."

"You didn't seem to care about leading me to self-harm and suicidal attempts several times during your stupid little prank." I remark.

He looks shocked, as does everybody else, except me.

"Face it, Louis. You don't care anymore." I add.

"I need you to see something." he says and leaves the room. When he comes back minutes later, he has a journal in his hands.

"Look." Louis says and rolls up his sleeves.

All I see is scars, fresh and old. I don't see the beautifully tanned skin I've grown to love.

I see pain, sorrow, and love.

I see myself in those scars.

I run my fingers over his arm and he just stares at the wall.

"Look at the book." he whispers.

I grab the book and open it.

I can't take it. I have to tell her the truth. I'm afraid for her life. She might die after a few more days. I can't let that happen. If she dies, I will too. I have to tell her soon. I love you, Jamie.

He wrote my first name connected to his many times, in different lettering.

"Well, you have good penmanship." I say, earning smiles.

"Thanks. Jamie, I want you to know, everything that happened that day is my fault. And it wasn't true either. I had to do it for you." he says.

"You had to put me through all of that?" I question.

"For your own good, yes. If I did this, you would get your part in that musical you love so much, umm, Annie? Anyway, you'd have the part and automatically, I know you'd be famous. Have you heard yourself sing? You're amazing. AMAZAYN! BRILIAM! EXTRODINHARRY! PHENOMINIALL! FABULOUIS! You'd get Sam released from that stupid death trap."

By this time, I can't hear what he's saying anymore, because I'm bawling.

"Sam? Sam being r-r-realesed? Thank you for doing this then, Louis." I interuppt.

I hug him softly and he hugs me, tighter.

"Thank Jack. He set everything up." Louis says, but I'm already hugging Jack.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you." I say.

"I didn't do much."

"And I didn't know you could be human." I say.

"Shut up." Jack says, smiling.
