This happened in a house we had bought (we don't live there anymore).
The house had burned down in a fire a few years ago. We got the house easily, the old owners were desperate to sell it (this had been when it was rebuilt).
It was an easy move. We lived there for at least four months. The only thing that has happened, was, where that attic was in the hallway, I saw the ladder down and a corpse-like figure, burnt skin, charred bones and it was on fire. The figure was just laying across one of the steps. In a few seconds, I blinked and it was gone, the attic was closed, which meant no ladder.
There was that and every so often, I could see flashes of fire. I'd blink and it'd disappear.
