My Dear Friend

I cannot wrap my mind around the fact that you are gone.

I am standing still.

while the world is moving on.

For now I feel great pain,

my heart is always breaking.

I keep trying to breathe, 

but my voice won't stop shaking. 

My mouth refuses to speak, 

but my eyes continually cry, 

coz I cannot bear the thought

of telling you goodbye.

I now feel so empty,

This pain won't go away.

I keep asking "why?"

and thinking back to that day.

The ground beneath me crumbled,

the whole earth seemed to shake.

You never knew how many hearts

would hear the news and break.

You touched so many lives

with your big contagious smile.

The way your laugh filled up a room

made all our lives worthwhile.

But we never knew the pain,

that hid behind your happy face.

If we had we surely would have

put our love in its place.

It hurts me to know

this wonderful life had to end.

For the rest of my days

I'll be missing you, my friend.
