Becoming a huntress has always been my dream. I have always wanted to save people from Grimms and protect people, but I never thought I would get into Beacon. I applied to all the schools there were, and the only one I got into was Beacon. This must have been a mistake, because Beacon was the best. When we got our letters of admission, me and Velvet screamed for joy. We had both gotten into Beacon, and we both came from Petal Female Fighter Academy.

Velvet is a rabbit faunus and my childhood friend. We've known each other for a very long time. The fact that we were both getting in to Beacon was the biggest surprise of my life. That is, so far.

"Wake up Violet!" Velvet shook me, trying to wake me up. We had a sleepover the night before. We packed all of our stuff together. I even packed Steel Fire, my weapon. It was a sword that transformed into a bow and had a gun at the hilt. I opened my eyes to see Velvet's chocolate brown ones staring down at me. "We're going to be late Violet!"

"Mmm, just one more minute." I rolled back over and everything went quiet. Just as I was falling back asleep, I was shoved onto the floor. "Kyaaaaa!" I heard Velvet laughing at my high pitched squeal.

"No lazy butt, get up now!" She shoved my favorite outfit over to me. It was a pair of tight black leggings, a white t-shirt, a purple leather jacket, and my favorite brown combat boots.

"Go away. I don't need you staring at me while I get dressed," I muttered, still half asleep. I took off my pajamas and pulled on a bra. Then I put my outfit on. In 2 minutes, I was ready to go. "You can come back in now." Velvet came in, took one look at me, and squealed.

"You look amazing Violet!" she cried.

"Oh come on, this is just the same old same old," I said. In reality, Velvet looked awesome. She had a brown and white striped beanie on to hide her rabbit ears, to avoid teasing in public. In addition to that, she had on a Beacon sweatshirt. To top that off, she was wearing brown shorts with black leggings underneath. Finally, she was wearing her matching combat boots to mine. Every year, we got a new pair of matching combat boots.

"Let's go!" she yelled, looking at the clock on the wall. I grabbed my suitcases and rushed out the door. I called back inside to my parents, who were still asleep even though it was 10 in the morning.

"ByeMomILoveYouSeeYouInAWhile!" I called back into the house as we sprinted for the train station. We rode the train to the airport, almost in complete silence. I knew Velvet was too excited for words, but I was definitely too nervous for words. We got to the airport, my stomach twisting in knots.

"Oh my gosh, look at her boots! Her hair! Her weapon!" Velvet was amazed at all the fully dressed fighters walking by. She noticed my silence, different from my usual nonstop chattering. "Are you nervous?" I gulped.

"Just a bit."

"Don't be nervous," she smiled at me. "You are just as awesome or even more awesome then all these people here!" We dropped our bags off at the luggage counter. Just then, our flight was called out.

"First year flight to Beacon is open at Gate 17." We got up out of our seats and were boarded onto the airship. I was so nervous. I plugged my headphones in and turned on my iPod. Most of the ride from then on was filled with music. I didn't see Velvet again until the end of the ride. She had gone to go talk to people. She tapped me on the shoulder and I paused the music.

"Oh my gosh. I met the nicest people! You should talk to them sometime! So I met these two sisters! They were named Ruby and Yang, and Ruby was adorable! She was also two years younger than you and I! And also, I met this guy named Lie. He had a friend named Nora and..." My brain auto-tuned Velvet out. I was thinking about all the people and what they would think of me. Slowly, the airship docked. We walked off, me next to Velvet. I was so nervous. I didn't even realize I was squeezing her hand until she grabbed me and pushed me away.

"Violet." She stared into my eyes, her brown ones staring into my dark purple ones. "You are going to be fine, you hear me? I guarantee, by the next year, you will barely know me anymore!"

"I doubt it," I told her. "We will always be good friends." She smiled at me. The crowds of people began to push us apart, and before I knew it, I was standing at the front gates of Beacon.
