------------Y/N's POV
"I still don't understand why you dragged me to do this. I'm just going to be a third wheel anyways!" You complain to your best friend as you sit in the backseat of her car.
You can see her boyfriend, Harry, roll his eyes at you before your friend, Candice, answers. "Because, Y/N, we're going with other people too, so you won't be a third wheel. Besides, you haven't dated in a year, you've been busy sitting on your lazy ass at home. It's time for you to start to mingle!"
You groan as you pull into the parking lot. "Do I even know any of these people that we're going to be spending the day with?" You ask, almost positive that you won't.
"You've only met one of them, Chris. The rest are all just my friends. I mean, you and Chris seemed to get along well enough last time?" Harry answers, turning around in his seat to look at you.
You quickly get out of the car, ignoring Harry's statement. Sure, you got along with Chris, if by getting along Harry means you were barely able to speak due to lack of confidence in front of a guy that you thought was very good looking. Hopefully, today won't be like that. In fact, you plan to avoid Chris, if possible.
You walk next to Candice as you both follow Harry to the entrance of the park. You see a group of people standing around, and one of them looks in your direction and points to the three of you.
You follow Harry as you walk up to the group, not recognizing two of the people there. Your eyes meet Chris' and he smiles at you. You feel your cheeks get warm, so you quickly look away at the other two people.
"Y/N, this is Cal and his girlfriend Sarah. Cal, Sarah, this is Y/N!" Harry introduces you to them and they smile at you. You hesitantly smile back. So this is how today was going to go. You and Chris would be the third wheels to the two couples.
You sigh, and Candice turns to you, apparently hearing. "Are you okay?" She asks, putting her hand on your shoulder. You hesitate before nodding your head. No, you're really not okay, you're going to have to end up talking to Chris today.
You all move into the park, immediately heading toward a tall rollercoaster. "Um, how many seats are in a row?" You ask the group, who seem to share a look with one another.
"Two." Candice replies, trying not to smile. But you've known her long enough that you can see right through her. Candice moves to link her arm with Harry's as Cal wraps his arm around his girlfriend.
Chris shrugs and turns to you. "Looks like we're stuck together." He says, letting out a slight laugh. The line moves forward as you nod your head.
"Oh, the joys of being third wheels." You laugh, looking at the ground. Good start, y/n. At least you can actually talk this time.
"You know, I didn't actually want to come." Chris starts as you separate into your groups to find seats. "I knew that I would be a third wheel to Cal and Sarah and Harry and Candice, but they forced me to come anyways." Chris says, allowing you to move ahead of him onto the rollercoaster.
You smile at him, sitting down and pulling the seatbelt over your lap. "It was the same for me, really. Well, I didn't know that we were even meeting other people." You tell Chris once he sits down.
Then Candice's words from earlier pop into your head. She said that you needed to mingle since you haven't dated in a year. This isn't all set up, is it? You make a mental note to ask her later, once you're off the ride.
"Well, at least you're here so I don't have to ride by myself. That would have been terrible." Chris says, smiling at you.
You let out a small snort, quickly covering it with a laugh as Chris laughs with you. The employee comes and checks your seatbelt before moving to the person sitting behind you. "Why, are you afraid of rollercoasters?" You ask Chris, laughing.
Chris scoffs. "No..." He says, trailing off and looks anywhere but at you.
"Don't worry, I'm here if you need me." You smirk at him as the ride begins to move. He laughs and you do too, beginning to loosen up around Chris.
After the ride, you hurry to catch up with Candice. You pull on her elbow, walking a short distance away from your group. "What is it? Did something happen with you and Chris?" She asks, her eyes getting hopeful.
"So I was right! You totally did this on purpose!" You accuse her, pointing your finger in her face like they do on all the television shows.
She scrunches her eyebrows together, turning to look at you. "I'm sorry, what did I do, exactly?" She asks, either pretending not to know what you're talking about, or genuinely being confused.
You roll your eyes and cross your arms over your chest. "You made Chris and I third wheels so that we had to ride all of the two seated rides together!" You exclaim, keeping you voice down so that no one hears you except for Candice.
"I won't deny it." She says, shrugging her shoulders. You groan and put your head in your hands. "What?" She asks, innocently. "You need to get a boyfriend, Y/N! And it was totally obvious when you met Chris that you thought he was hot! I'm your best friend, I can tell when you like someone."
You lower your head, looking at the sidewalk you're walking on. "I don't like him..." You mumble under your breath, walking back toward your group.
"How's my hair?" You ask Chris as you get off of your third rollercoaster of the day. He looks at you and tries to contain his laughter before it all comes spilling out. "Is it really that bad?" You ask him, frowning.
Chris shakes his head, moving his hands toward your hair. He smooths it down, running his hand through your hair. You feel a blush coming to your cheeks, not for the first time today. "There. All better." Chris says, smiling. You smile back at him, moving to catch up with the rest of your group.
You grab his arm, causing him to stay with you. He looks confused and you quickly drop your arm. "You know, it wasn't a coincidence that we're both third wheels today." You tell him, putting your hands in the pockets of your jean shorts.
Chris only laughs. "Yeah, I've realized." He says, putting his arm around your shoulder.
"You have?" You ask, trying your hardest not to blush at his touch.
"Well, there can only be so many reasons that those four got into a teacup together leaving us to be in one by ourselves." Chris laughs. "Or when they went to get food and you tried to go but Candice argued with you to stay."
Your face heats up. So, Chris has noticed that they've been setting you up. Yet, he's been acting normally to you, maybe this isn't a bad thing.
"You know what, though?" Chris asks, turning his head to look at you. He stops walking while the rest of the group continues, not noticing that you're falling behind. "I like that they're forcing us to be together. It's really fun." He says, smiling at you.
You can't help but smile back. "Well, I suppose if I had to be forced into hanging out with someone, I'm glad it was you." You answer, feeling your stomach do a flip, noticing how close you and Chris are.
"What do you say we ditch these losers and go win a Pikachu at a game booth?" Chris asks, turning you around and leading you away from the group.
You stop Chris, and look toward him. He looks down, worried, dropping his arm from around your shoulder. "I think that's a great idea." You tell him, kissing him on the cheek.
He smiles and grabs your hand, intertwining his fingers with your own.
