Ash

I made it home finally after spending days at Jaqcuees' house. It was a nice quick getaway but now I needed to see what Emerald was up to. We both had nasty scars from that scene and we both had good surgeons to fix it. Bam, good as new. I pulled out my iPhone and dialed her number.
"Hello," she said groggily. Her accent was thick but she spoke good English.
"Get up cause I'm free and it's only right we do something," I said.
I heard her smack her lips on the other end and shuffling, "Girl you could have texted me that."

"No cause that means it would have taken you forever to text back," I said.
"Exactly," she chuckled. "I'll be over in about an hour and I want food for being such a good cousin."

"Like what?" I asked.
"Like some breakfast, duh," she said.
"I'll see what I can do," I said. We quickly said our good byes and hung up.
I went to the kitchen to raid the fridge. I pulled out bacon, eggs, and some salsa. I guess I would make the girl an omelet. I started to cook when my phone rang. I looked at an unknown number and hesitated on it I should pick it up.

"Hello," I spoke through the speaker.
"Hey Ash, it's me Aaron," the voice replied. I rolled my eyes cause now is not the time.
"Hello Aaron," I said simply.
"How have you been?" he asked. I was already over this conversation. All the small talk was unecessary.
"I've been good what about you?" I asked.
"I've been good too, just calling to see if you wanted to hang out, you know as friends," he said. He was speaking with so much confidence.
"I don't know Aaron, I'm sort of-
"In a relationship, I already know,"he said chuckling.
"What's funny?" I asked.
"Well you act like you can't have any friends," he said.
"That's not it," I said.
"Then what is it? I'm just asking for a harmless day out with an old friend," he said.
Old friend? That sort of hurt but I guess I shouldn't be mad considering I'm the one left him hanging.
"Ok sure why not," I said.
"Ok anywhere you want to go, let's say Saturday at 6?" he asked.
"Sure, sure" I said.
"Alright cool," I said then hung up. Aaron was so plain when we broke up. So boring, and too clingy, so if this is his attempt to whoo me then it has already failed. The doorbell sucked me out of my thoughts. I walked to the door to see Emerald standing there looking fabulous but comfortable.
"Girl it smells good up in here," she said.
"Well you wanted food so here's your omelet," I said pointing to the plate.
"Ugh why do I sense attitude?" she asked as she took her seat and started to dig in.
"Cause Aaron just called me," I said.
"Dang girl, what did he want?"
"He wanted me to hang out with him, like just friends," I said.
"Well after you see him you're not going to want to be just friends,"she said.
"What do you mean?"
"Girl he has changed forreal, his whole appearance and demeanor. I saw him at Club Sphinx two weeks ago and girl he was the man of the hour,"she said.
" Gurl nothing has changed about that man,"I laughed it off.
"Alright, you'll see. I'll be right here when you get done. I want to eat my food in peace," she said.
"Whatever I'll be ready in twenty," I said. There's no way Aaron had changed that much, no way.
