The first and last thing I heard was the sound of my heartbeat slowing down, and my heavy breathing filling up my ears. I couldn't see anything, all I could do was hear.
My name is Rose. I was 17 when this happened. I have to tell you a few things about me so you better understand my story. I was a shy teenager who kept to my drawings and my room, so I was pale as a piece of paper with slight bit of freckles. I had and still do have short brown curly hair that bounces whenever I walk, I also have a pair of brown eyes, they're a bit darker than my hair. My parents have full time jobs so I was usually home alone till 9-10pm. When I'm usually home alone, I like to go on long walks around the small town we live in.
That's exactly what I did that day, the day all of this happened. The day I found my DreamWorld. It was pretty late and I couldn't sleep. So I decided it would be best to go out for a walk, I grabbed a jacket and a pair of sweat pants and headed out.
I was listening to some music as I walked down the street. When I was walking, I was daydreaming of my perfect world, where everything is perfect, where my parents accept my sexuality, where I have friends, where I can be.... Me, basically.
The most perfect world, was so far out of reach, and so was, well, my dream family. Yeah, my family is more dysfunctional than a broken clock.
My parents fight a lot when their home and usually have 'make-up sex' which I hear a lot of. I don't have any grandparents but I have a few aunts and uncles, none of them care to
Know me. Welcome to my world.I dream of a perfect life, but I know how far away it is. Something I would never have. The day I went out for a walk, I didn't bring a flashlight and the street lights were all almost dead,so
I should've been more careful than I was. But because it was late out, and I saw no car lights; I did the dumbest thing ever. I walked in the middle of the street, with my eyes closed, music blasting, getting lost in my perfect dream, wishing and hoping that my life could be just like the one in my head. No wonder, I got hit by a car.
No wonder, I couldn't see anything, or anyone. No wonder all I could hear was my own breathing. No wonder. No wonder. That the first and last thing I heard was my slow heart beat.
