Hours passed by, Jennifer and I were getting along perfectly. We've been playing games, chatting, re-playing games, etc. Eventually, we played every single game in the arcade at least 2-3 times already. We were walking out of the arcade chatting when we noticed Kyle and Gwen, they were kissing.

"Hm, should we ruin their fun or go somewhere else?" Jennifer asked.

"Somewhere else." I said putting my hands on my hips. "Let them be teenagers."

"Whatever" she shrugged, she began to walk down the street, she turned to me "you coming?"
I nod and follow her down the sidewalk, we keep walking till we reach a dirt road.

"We're pretty far away from the arcade.. what is this place?" I asked as Jennifer stood there looking down the dirt path.

"It's just a pathway that leads to a little opening far away from everybody."
Jennifer said with a sigh.

"Sounds like your planning to kill me back there." I joked, she elbowed me.
"I'm kidding I'm kidding."

"Come on, its a nice view the opening shows..." she starts walking down the dirt path, I stand there for a moment, then follow her down the dirt pathway.

It's a beautiful hike, the smell of pine cones and maple fill my nose, the trees seem untouched, like they haven't been disturbed in years. The ground a light layer of leaves on the ground, so crisp and brown. The air is warm though, it's far too warm to wear a jacket, or even a long sleeve. We make it out to this great big opening, it looks over miles upon miles of tall evergreens. I sit down on the edge, staring out at this beautiful sight in awe. Jennifer sat next to me.

"Pretty, isn't it?" Jennifer said, looking along the miles of trees.

"Yeah... breathtaking..." I say, looking at the drop from below, it's a sharp nearly vertical slope down to the great dark abyss of trees. "I'd want to live here..."

"Why? So you can throw your trash over the edge?" Jennifer sarcastically asked.

"Do you ever have anything nice to say to me?" I frown at her.

"Nope." She said laying back, her legs hanging off the edge.

I sigh, no surprise there, she's only been nice to me one entire day.
She simply looks at me, then pulls be down to lay next to her.

"I haven't figured anything out to say you dum-bell." She said as she put her hands under her head. "Check out the sky."

I look up, there are clouds slowly floating by, the trees narrow the sight of trees.

"Pretty.." I say, trying to sit up, but Jennifer put her arm on my chest and made me lay down again.

"What do you see? In the clouds?" She asked.

I looked up at the clouds, the old 'what shape is the clouds' game, eh?
"Hm... I see a dragon chasing a guy."

"... where?" She squints at the clouds.

"There." I say pointing at a cloud "there's the head, and there's the tiny man running away."

"Huh...Well, I see a horse racing another horse." Jennifer said, staring up at a cloud.

"Really? Where?" I squinted at the clouds, then pointed at two clouds "those?"

"Yeah." She nodded.

And like that, the day went by, we didn't even mean to stay out there that long, it just ended up like that. It was so calm, and peaceful, I didn't even realize that we both fell asleep till Jennifer's phone went off. We jerked up and realized it was pitch black.

"Aw shit..." Jennifer said. "Rose??"

"I'm right beside you." I respond, pulling my legs away from the edge.
"Come on, we have to get going."

"Right.." She got up and followed, she answered her phone, of course, it was John. "Hi Dad.. sorry, yeah I know, we're heading back now.."

We walked all the way back to the arcade, John and Kyle looked incredibly worried, then mad once they saw we were ok.

"Care to explain?!" John said, folding his arms.

"Sorry Dad... we were just hanging out and-"
"We fell asleep..." I blurted out.
"We didn't even realize that we fell asleep till her phone went off."

"I see..." John sighed
"Well atleast you didn't get hurt...
Come on, let's go home."

"Yeah..." Jennifer and I say, we climb into the back of the truck, it was strange, I didn't even realize that I was holding her hand when we were walking back. It was probably because it was so dark, I didn't want to get lost.

But really, I am lost, I'm not home, my home, with my family. But really,
With the family I have...

I don't think they miss me anyway.
