"Girl come on over here and get into the fun!" I looked up from the grass to see my Mama May looking directly at me. I tried to politely decline, but T jogged over to me and got me up.
We went behind everyone else as the music started playing. I'm assuming the name of it is Cupid Shuffle judging by the intro of it.
"I can't dance." I frowned.
"It's cool, I'll show you what to do."
W
hen the song got to a certain part, I started mimicking her dance moves.
To the right, to the right, to the right, to the right
To the left, to the left, to the left, to the left
Now kick, now kick, now kick, now kick
Now walk it by yourself, now walk it by yourselfAfter doing a move that seemed like that 'walk it out' dance, I turned back around and T was nowhere to be found. Instead Ant was standing there dancing like everything was normal.
I turned to walk away, but just like earlier, he grabbed my hand. When I faced him again, he let me go and started dancing again.
This was supposed to be a day full of fun. I don't want to seem rude by slapping his ass then walking away. Renee would probably call me dramatic again if I did that. She was standing not too far away, dancing with the rest of our siblings. Shockingly, she seemed to be having a good time. Didn't know she has a fun bone in her body.
T was dancing way better than he was, and for that reason, he actually got a laugh out of me.
The song was a short one, so I didn't have to deal with him too long. Or so I didn't think I would have to. The song Roni by Bobby Brown came on. I love older R&B music so much. Bobby has some of my favorite songs.
Ant grabbed my hands and started doing a simple side step dance. He wanted me to join in, but I didn't want to. I slid my hands away from his and attempted to walk away again. This time instead of him using his hands, he used his voice to stop me.
"The truth about Roni
She's a sweet little girl
If you treat her right
Real nice and hold her tight
Only tender Ronis
Can give the special love
A special kind of love
That makes you feel good inside
If you believe in love
And all that it can do for you
Give it a chance, girl
You'll find romance.."I turned my head to look back at him. He has an amazing voice, which is something I didn't expect from him.
The way he's singing to me, it feels like a scene out of some sappy love story or a movie. The sad part is that I was tempted to go back and let him sing to me. He doesn't want to know me for me though. He only wants one thing.
I'll continue telling myself that about every guy that 'wants to get to know me'.
I shook my head then went into the house. D and Des were on my ass like white on rice. They must have ran after me instead of walked.
"Here, have a seat." Des pulled a chair away from the kitchen table.
I was about to sit down, but his silly ass let the chair scrub against the floor. I clearly heard that he was trying to make me fall.
"Boy I'll slap the fuck outta you if I fall on the floor right now." He's been pulling little mini pranks on me all afternoon. I'm glad he's having a good day, but he has been picking on me all day. It's all love but damn.
"If you can catch me." He laughed. "Nah but foreal, sit down."
Instead of sitting, I moved the chir back to the table and just stood there. D folded his arms over his chest and made eye contact with me.
"A, you need to stay away from Ant. He ain't nothing but a D boy and my sister deserves better than that."
"How do you know what he does?"
"Because... he works underneath us." He gestured towards Des.
"Yeah we seen how y'all was all boo'd up dancing and shit." Des cosigned.
If they seen that part, then they had to see the part where I walked away from his ass. They want me to stay away from him, yet they invited him to the family get together. At least I assume they're the ones that invited him. Could have been T. Anyway, the point is if they really didn't want him around, they should have told him to leave.
"First of all I wasn't boo'd up with nobody. Y'all have somebody, why can't I have a man too?"
By no means am I actually trying to get with Ant, it's just the principle of the matter. I don't dictate what they do, so why do they have a say so in what I do?
"This nigga ain't dating nobody." D told me.
"Right, I'm not." Des gave me a look as if he wanted me to be quiet. Too bad I won't though.
"After you made me spill apple juice all on myself, Mama May told me to go upstairs and find something to wear while she dried my pants. You ran off so damn fast to get on the phone with them corny ass pickup lines. What's her name, Cylest? Or is it... Lestybear?"
He put his hand over my mouth then started looking all over the kitchen.
"Lil nigga don't say that too damn loud. Nobody was supposed to know about her. We just talk, nothing serious."
I pulled his hand off my mouth then wiped my lips on my shirt. I don't know where his hands have been today.
"SO YOU THE SIMP ASS NIGGA!" For the first time today, D smile and laughed.
"AYE EVERYONE, I GOT SOMETHING TO TELL Y'ALL!" He said as he turned around and ran out the backdoor. Des followed right behind him.
Good. I don't even feel like going back outside. I guess I'll go in the living room and watch TV until Kenzie is ready to go. I may as well do that since I can't pick who I do and don't speak to.
