Middle Of Camila's Sophomore Year In High School
"Okay, remember to study up for the midterms tomorrow!" Their teacher yelled as the kids began to exit the classroom.
Dinah sighed as she walked out of the classroom alongside Camila, "Ugh, why do most teachers have to make their midterms on the same day?"
Camila shrugged, "I don't know, they're worth so much too. I really need to get at least an 85 on the math and English ones because I have a C in those class right now." Dinah stopped walking and looked at her kind of surprised. "What?" Camila said in confusion.
"You've never had a C in any class for as long as I've known you, Mila. That's crazy!" Dinah said and shook her head disapprovingly.
"Oh, calm down," Camila replied with a playful eye roll, "It's only two classes."
Dinah and Camila started to walk again as Dinah too thought it wasn't that bad, just kind of surprising. "Well, how bout a sleepover tonight?" Dinah suggested, they usually had sleepovers before big tests to help each other study.
"Sounds good to me," Camila replied. The two then separated as their next classes were different.

Camila was facing her locker when she felt some hands grab her by her waist; "Hey, babe," Austin whispered in her ear.
Camila smiled excitedly as she turned around, "Hey!" She said before leaning in to give him a kiss.
After a few moments, Austin pulled away and with a charming smile he asked, "So what do you think about me taking you out tonight?"
"Tonight? I can't I have to study with Dinah for midterms," Camila replied with a frown.
"Aw c'mon babe, I never get to take you out," Austin said with a pout.
Camila bit her lip, clearly torn, but she didn't want to make Austin mad but declining his offer, "Okay, but I have to be at Dinah's by at least 9."
"Alright!" Austin said with a smile the it he slowly turned into a smirk as his hands traveled down her body, "Wear something nice," he said with a wink.
Camila blushed by the way he was looking at her, "Okay," she shyly replied, "Where are we going?"
"It's a surprise, baby."
--
Camila sat awkwardly, in her black dress and heels, across from Austin who sported a basketball tee. The diner, Camila said to herself, I wore this outfit to the fucking diner.
Austin smiled at Camila, clearly not seeing that she was pretty disappointed in his choice of restaurant. "You look smokin' hot, Camilla," Austin said with a proud smirk.
Camila try to her disappointment aside, besides she's not a high maintenance person or anything, she mostly just feels out of place and kind of let down as she thought this was suppose to be a special night out. "Thanks," Camila replied with a small smile. Camila then smile as she picked up the rose sitting on top of the table that Austin gave her, "Thanks for the rose too, by the way." Her smile grew as she put the rose to her nose but then realized that it smelt like the dollar store. Oh, it's fake, Camila though slightly embarrassed that she didn't even notice until now.
"Of course, anything for you babygirl," Austin said with a smirk. The waitress then came and asked for their orders. "I'll have a burger and fries and for my lady," Austin said while motioning towards Camila who was gonna speak but was cut off as Austin continues, "She'll have a salad."
The waitress nodded and left as Camila sat there confused, "What was that about?"
"What was what about?" Austin obliviously replied.
"You just spoke for me, Austin," Camila said, furrowing her eyebrows in anger, "I wasn't even gonna order that."
Austin rolled her eyes, "Whatever, Camilla," he replied as if she was annoying him.
Camila bit her tongue, she didn't want to have a conflict with him but she also didn't want to have him think he could speak for her like he just did. She didn't know which one was more important to her so she stayed quiet.
Austin sighed and reached for her hand, "You're my girl, I'm just looking out for you," he said with a smile, "Girls don't keep their sexy figures by eating fries and shit like that."
Camila bit her lip, now feeling a little self conscious, she feels like this a lot lately. Camila always felt like the kind of girl that confident with herself but often Austin would test that confidence and she slowly felt it deteriorating. She clearly was not suited for popularity, maybe not even relationships because her self esteem has become dependent on these things.
"Ay, yo, Austin!" James, a jock that was on Austin's team, called out as he entered the door with another guy.
"Hey, man!" Austin said happily, "Pull up some chairs!"
Camila smiled at them even though it was kind of fake seeing as she was hoping to be Austin alone rather than with his obnoxious friends.
"Sup, Austin's girl," James said with a nod as he sat across from her; the other guy, Craig took a seat next to Camila, putting his arm around her which made her uncomfortable but Austin didn't seem to notice.
The remainder of the date consisted of Camila eating a salad even though she hates salad whilst listening to Austin and his friends talk about sports. She zoned them out until she got a text from Dinah then noticed that it was already 9:10, "Austin," Camila said to get his attention, "I have to go."
"Aw cmon, don't leave so early!" James said then nugged Austin, "We were just about to head over to Casey's party, you guys have to come."
Austin nodded then looked over at Camila with a pout, "C'mon babe, let's go to the party."
Camila bit her lip, she really didn't want to go because she knew she had to study but also she felt pressure from Austin's friends to go, she stood her ground. "I really can't, I have to study."
James huffed and shook his head, then said to Austin, "I told you bro, this is why you don't get with nerdy girls."
Camila looked down, offended that he would say that right in front of her. She expected Austin to come to her defense but he just laughed then turned to Camila to say, "He's right babe, stop being a buzzkill and just come."
Camila looked up to see all three of the guys staring at her in an expectant expression, so this is what peer pressure feels like. "Okay," Camila softly replied while looking away from the stares, she felt like crawling into a corner right now.
--
"Just checking in on you guys," Sinu from the other side of the phone, "Camila's not picking up her phone."
Dinah gulped and looked around her empty room in conflict before replying, "Yeah, she's here, we just finished studying and she knocked out."
After giving that reassurance, Dinah put down the phone and looked at the clock that read 12:30 a.m. and shook her head. "You can't keep doing this, Mila," Dinah whispered to herself in disappointment; but this was just the beginning, for Camila wouldn't arrive there that day until two hours later, resulting in two failed midterms.
A/N
Hey there, so this is a flashback that I orignially had in actually my very first outline of the series and I ended up not including it (it would have been in chapter 17 as a comparison to the dates Camila goes on with Lauren). For some reason I always really liked this scene though, I thought the diner date was kind of funny, and one of the reasons I'm making the book is because of this flashback I wrote, I just was like man I wish I put this in haha. Anyways, there's more to come and I apologize for any mistakes in here and in this book in general because while I am going to try to edit these, they still are just my rough drafts lol and if you think some of these aren't that good then I'd probably agree since they were cut out for a reason lmao. Hopefully you have fun with this and the rest of this extras book, thanks so much for your interest in my work!
