A/N: Hope you enjoyed my title of this flashback lol, just to keep the theme of the first one I posted here is yet another flashback that was not included. This time it is Lauren's but it's unfortunately pretty short, hopefully you'll enjoy anyways.
Lauren's first day of military school
Lauren walked to class with her head down, she had so much going through her mind right now. She couldn't believe that she was forced to leave Grace who is now all alone with Jack and there was nothing Lauren could do to help her. How was she suppose to just go on in her day with that in the back of her mind constantly? It was practically all she thought about, with every second that passed she reminded herself that she failed Grace.
Lauren sat down in class with other timid freshmen, but she made no eye contact with anyone until someone tapped on her desk to get her attention. She looked over the girl sitting next to her with a black expression on her face, "What?"
The girl dismissed Lauren demeanor as she cheerfully said, "Hi, my names Normani."
Lauren just stared at her then looked back forward, hoping the class would just start already because she wasn't in the mood to make conversation with anyone.
Normani eyebrows furrowed, "Well?" She said to Lauren to who continued to just ignore her. Normani then tapped on Lauren's desk again while politely asking, "Aren't you going to introduce yourself?"
Lauren continued to ignored Normani, not even bother to make eye contact with her as she looked at the teacher who just walked in.
"Are you some kind of emo kid?" Normani asked in an oddly confused voice to which Lauren softly shook her head. "Okay so you're not that or deaf, so that's a start, are you one of those delinquents that did something to get here?" Lauren completely ignored her as she studied the teacher who seemed to have misplaced his lesson plan. "I'll take that as yes." Normani then became increasingly annoyed as she watched Lauren, who was looking down at her pencil that she was tapping, completely ignoring her.
Lauren was forced to make eye contact when all of a sudden, Normani reached down and stole her pencil to her to look at her. "What the-"
"No, listen to me emo delinquent girl," Normani said now full of sass, "I have had enough of this place! My dad was in the army and he forced me to go to this terrible place and now I have to wear this bad outfit everyday and follow these stupid rules. All I want right now is some normalcy in this dark time of my life and you're gonna give that to me by telling me your name right now!"
Lauren's eyes widened in the urgency of Normani's voice, "Lauren," she softly said.
Normani's face quickly changed from that of anger to happiness as a smile took over, "It's nice to meet you, Lauren."
Lauren shook her head as a small smile formed on her face, "I think we're gonna be friends."
