For a normal person starting a brand new school year, it's not terrible. For a new kid, starting school in the middle of the school year, it's not only terrible, it's terrifying.
If you haven't figured it out already, today is Monday. Not only is it the worst day of the week, it's also the first day at an entirely new school. The day has just started and it's already horrendous. My alarm clock didn't go off at the right time so I woke up late, my hair was a catastrophe and I didn't have time to straighten it so now it's a frizzy mess, and now the outfit I wanted to wear today has somehow gotten mysterious stains all over it. The day has just started and it's already on the list of worst days in my entire life.
I go to my closet and somehow manage to discover an outfit that was not terrible. It was a light gray sweater, dark blue skinny jeans, dark gray ankle boots, and a maroon beanie. It's not as good as the outfit I planned to wear but it's decent. It good enough for school. I hope at least. I put on the outfit I put together at the last minute and start to do my hair. I style my blond hair into a messy side fishtail braid and place the beanie onto my head. I then go into the bathroom to put on my face, also known as makeup. I put on foundation, then put on a nude eye shadow. I then grab my black eyeliner and put on a winged eyeliner to make my light blue eyes pop along with some black mascara. I put on a light pink lip gloss and head downstairs to find my mother waiting by the door for me to leave. Guess I'm not getting any breakfast today. I follow my mother outside, to her 2016 silver Honda Civic and into the passenger side of her car. "Okay honey, please, just give this school a chance. Don't hate it too quickly. And please try to make some friends!" Wow mother, so much faith in your daughter. So much faith. I hate that. I hate that she never believes in me. I hate that she can never trust me. I'm so going to prove her wrong one day.
Anyway, she pulled into the school and dropped me off. First day of school, here I come. Wish me luck. I walk through the front doors of Fallen High, the place I'm going to be for the next two years since I'm starting my Jr year here. I go to the front office to get the documents I need. The lady sitting at the front desk was wearing something that was extremely revealing. She was wearing a dark purple shirt that was pulled way too low, exposing too much cleavage, a skirt that looks like it could be a belt, and high heels that made her at least 8 inches taller than she actually is. In other words, she looked like a slut. It was terrible. "Umm, Hi? I'm here to get my schedule." She looks at me in disgust and bends down, opens a drawer, pulls out a paper that I'm guessing is my schedule then shoved it in my hands. Well she's rude. Well, time to start my first day of hell.
As I walk through the hallways of my new high school, I can already classify all of the cliques that roam this school. There's the Band Geeks, the Emos, the Goths, the Anime-niacs, the "Nerds," the Geeks, the Outcasts, the Asians, the Cool Asians, the Asian Nerds, the Jocks, the Wanna-Be Populars, and the Queen Bitches. Just by looking at the so called "Populars," I hate them with a burning passion. They're all standing by a locker, applying more paint to their already colorful faces. I can see everybody looking at me like a monkey in a cage at the zoo. I'm not a monkey, I'm just a new kid. From what I can tell, I'd fit in with the outcasts.
I see two figures running at me and before I could react I was tackled to the ground. "HIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU'RE FINALLY HERE!!!!" Well...now I'm partially deaf. Thanks a lot Alyssa.
"Hey, yeah, I'm here and deaf now." I respond as I push Alyssa off of me.
"Well, it's your own fault for not being prepared for me being loud. You better get used to it. You also better get used to public humiliation since I don't get embarrassed." She smiles evilly as she finishes her sentence.
This year shall be very interesting.
The two girls hand me their schedules and I compare them to mine.
My Schedule is:
Algebra 2
Science
Social Studies
English
Free Period
Chorus
Study Hall
Writing
Art
So out of all of those, I have Algebra, Science, Social Studies, English and the free period with the both of them. I also have Chorus with Alyssa and Art with Alexis. Looks like in study hall and writing I'm all alone.
I follow Alexis and Alyssa to our first class. When we walk in, I immediately see a guy in the back. He's wearing all black, a black hoodie with the hood on, and a black hat completely covering his face. "Who's that?" I ask motioning to the boy in the back of the class.
"Oh him, we call him the Mad Hatter. (See what I did there?? *wink wink*) No one has ever seen his face although people say he's completely mad. He has zero friends so no one knows who he is. And anytime someone asks to see his face, he just says 'No. My face is my identity. So I keep it hidden.'" Alexis answered. She then looks at Alyssa and both of them start to smile.
At the same time they say, "His voice is hot though!!" and burst out laughing. They then walk away to go to their seats as they giggle.
I slowly walk behind them. Although as I walk, I can't help but to be intrigued by the boy in the back. Mad Hatter. I wonder...what he'd look like without his hat. And if he's really mad....like me.
This year will certainly be interesting. Interesting Indeed.
