Chapter 3

Pabagsak akong naupo sa sofa ng makarating ako sa bahay. Naubos ata lahat ng energy ko because of that talk.

Kurt's father was nearly begging me to accompany his son in the convention. He told me that if we get the chance to talk to him, malaki ang chance na makapag-arrange kami ng business meeting. Sabi nito, all I have to do is be there, ask him to have a meeting with them and my role is done. Sila na daw ang bahala sa pakikipag-usap dito. He even offers me a month-long vacation leave kung magagawa ko ito.
Gusto ko man tanungin kung paano nya nalaman na 'ex-husband' ko si Zeke pero di ko na ginawa. Naging usap-usapan din naman sa Pilipinas ang pagpapakasal namin ni Zeke. Kaya di na ako magtataka kung nalaman niya iyon.

Malaki ang utang na loob ko sa mag-amang Hilton. They were so good to me. And I want to help them in every way that I could. Pero di ko naman akalain na ito pala ang tulong na maibibigay ko.

Maybe, it's really time to go home huh? I thought. Parang kelan lang iniisip ko pa kung kamusta na sila, ngayon mukhang kailangan ko na silang harapin.

Bigla namang tumunog ang phone ko. I fished it from my pocket and looked who's calling. It's my mom. Sinagot ko iyon.

"Hi mom. How are you?"

"Hello hija. We're fine. Ikaw? Kumusta ka dyan?"

"Well, i just came home from work. How's Dad?"

"He's fine. A little busy with the company. Alam mo naman yon. He's very hand-on. Nagtatampo na nga ako because nali-late na syang umuwi. You know it's lonely here lalo na at wala ka pa." I can hear sadness in her voice.

Huminga muna ako ng malalim bago nagsalita. "I'm sorry Mom. Don't worry, pag uwi ko dyan, magma-mother and daughter bonding tayo."

A long pause before she asks me. "What do you mean, Louise? Have you decided to come home?" excited na tanong nito. I can picture her smiling while saying that.

"Well, there's an event that me and my boss will be attending. At dyan yun gaganapin sa Pilipinas. I was thinking that maybe I can go home for a while too see you." paliwanag ko dito

"Oh that's great! Kelan ba yan? I can't wait! Ipapahanda ko na ang kwarto mo. How will long will you stay here? A week? A month or two? I'm so excited!" She suddenly sounds so giddy. I can't blame her. Matagal na kaming di nagkita. And i have to admit, nami-miss ko na din sya.

"The convention will be held next week. And I have two weeks of vacation after that."

"Oh great! Aayusin ko na ang kwarto mo. Then, I'll tell your father about it. Sigurado akong matutuwa iyon."

"Ahm Mom? Pwede bang wag mo na munang sabihin kay Dad. And I think, I'll stay in my condo na lang. I can still visit you there."

Bigla itong natahimik. "Mom?"

"I'm still here anak. May sama ka pa din ba ng loob sa Daddy mo? Can't we just forget about what happened then? I missed you and I want to be with you. Gusto ko, makasama kayo ng Dad mo just like the old times. I'm missing my family, hija."

"I know Mom. And I miss you too. But, I don't know if I have already moved on. I want to do this one step at a time."

"Okay. But can I at least tell your Dad that you're coming here in the Philippines? Alam mo namang ayokong nagtatago ng sikreto sa Daddy mo."

Saglit akong nag-isip. "Okay, Mom."

"Great! I'm so excited!"

"Me too, Mom."
