4 hours later lunch finally arrived.
The food at Jamison Senior Secondary School (god that was long) wasn't bad. It was just not eatable.
There was a difference.
"Looks like the freshmen finally learned the lesson," June said pointing to a bunch of 9th graders opening their home packed lunches.
"Finally! It was sad seeing them eat that shit everyday hoping to get something better," replied Chrisse. And she was sad that school was ending.
"So the party is this saturday," Lavender pointed out, not caring about freshmen's eating habits.
"Do we have to go there?" I said digging into a cheese sandwich.
"Parties are fun. Stop acting like we are taking you to a funeral," replied Paige. Sassy ain't she.
"Funerals are atleast quiet," I pointed out.
"And no one is trying to grab you," Chrisee helpingly added.
"Okay but no one is dead. Yet. So you all are coming?" Lavender just threatened us. Cool.
"I liked what we did last time there was a party," I replied in a small voice knowing the effects those words will have.
"What we did last time was nothing. We just sat watching Netflix and eating shit," Paige reminded with a somewhat of a glare. She wasn't very good at the whole glare thing.
"And we had chocolates," June added and was given a real glare by Lavender. Now those were scary.
The last time there was a party, the girls and I had not been able to decide whether we wanted to go or not, since Chrisee was away, leaving an equal majority. By the time we decided, it was already late and hence we went with our version of Netflix and chill.
(Ofcourse no sex you perverts.)
As you see I really liked it. The girls not so much. For them parties are to have fun. For me its another day I can lay around and not be bothered. Obviously we don't agree.
Not like I minded the parties. It was always fun to go out and dance and drink. But these back to school parties always got out of hand and the cops always showed up. And I have had enough near encounters with them to want to stay home.
Plus my father would not like bailing me out again.
Before I could give an answer to that, someone walked up to our table. And by someone I meant a really cute guy. And by a really cute guy I meant Will Powers.
Will was the really smart, really attractive kind of the guy who was also really sweet. Kind of the perfect deal if you ask me. He didn't have girls falling at his feet but then again he had his own share of fangirls.
"Hey Violet. How's everything going?" Will asked me and I swear I heard June swoon.
(See I told you.)
"Hey Will. Everything is good. How about you?"
"Everything is good here too. Hey girls. Nice seeing you all," he said and was met with a chorus of heys from the girls.
"You look really nice by the way, Violet. That shirt is cute." OK Will Powers just complimented me and I didn't even look that nice. 10 points for Violet.
"Thank you. Same goes for you."
"I was going for a more handsome approach with this shirt but thank you I guess," he replied laughing and I realised my mistake.
"Oh I guess it's just of the days where you can't get what you want," I replied seeming unfazed by the mistake but internally embarrassed as hell. I was good at this flirting thing, I think.
"I guess so. I'll see you in chemistry?" He asked with a smile that made you believe in the toothpaste he buys.
"Yeah. See you in chemistry."
"Bye girls," he said bidding us adieu, walking towards his friends.
As soon as he left I was met with 4 pairs of questioning eyes, one of which I was sure was still making heart eyes at Will.
"What?" I asked innocently.
"That was Will Powers," Lavender pointed out.
"Good work, Sherlock."
"Oh my god. He is so cute. If you guys get together, you have to tell us all the details," June said, finally over her fangirling. (Or maybe not.)
"J that sounds borderline stalkerish," Paige pointed out.
"Keyword is borderline," June resorted, unaffected.
"Ok can we get back to the point: when did you both start talking?" Chrisee asked, and the party seemed like a forgotten topic.
"You heard him. We are partnered up in chemistry. I believe I told you all last week."
"No you didn't," Lavender accused
"She could have and we all could have ignored her since last week was her 'hospitals are haunted week'," Paige helping added.
"You guys are the worst," I said but not really meaning it since I knew they tuned me out every time I got a new theory.
(Which I believed were hundred percent true FYI.)
I started relaying them the story of how it all came to be and by the end of it, lunch was already over.
As we all packed up, heading to our lockers, Chrisee reminded us we still were yet to finalise the party deal.
And here I thought I could get away with a Netflix party of my own.
