Rebound Issues k.a.

Chapter 13

"Still sleeping?" My mom asks.

"Yep." It's two o'clock and those girls are still sleeping.

"Can you get the rest of the groceries in the trunk please?" I put on some shoes and head out. But I turn the corner to see that the trunk is closed. She must have gotten the rest and forgot. Wait, but she didn't walk in with anything. I turn around and my jaw drops into a smile.

"Kevin!" I run up to him and give him a hug. He hugs me back spinning me around.

"You don't know how much I missed you, Nagely." He kisses my cheek catching me by surprise. "So-"

"It's ok." I cut him off. "Don't apologize so much." I playfully scold him and he smiles. "I thought you said you were coming in three days.

"I wanted to surprise you."

"Where's Marie and Alexis?" Devin jogs over.

"They're still sleeping."

"What did you do last night?" He laughs.

"Enough talking with him, we need to talk." He pulls me closer.

"About what?" I ask in curiosity.

"You'll see, but first let's go out," He says. "to a place to eat lunch." He quickly adds then nervously laughs.

We went to IHOP, we as in Devin, Marie, Daniel, Alexis, Kevin and I. Turns out Daniel and Devin woke them up.

"This dude pushed me off the bed!" Marie complains and everyone laughs at her.

"Shhh." He does as we walk to our table.

"Can I start you all with drinks?"

"Sprite."

"Sweet Tea."

"Orange Soda."

"Pepsi."

"Sprite."

"Mountain Dew."

"Gotcha, I'll be back with your drinks, here are the menus."

"You know I was craving IHOP, thanks for inviting us Kev." Devin sticks out his arm for a high five.

"Not quite," He squints. "I think you invited yourself." He says in a high pitched voice.

"Oh I see, this was supposed to be a little date with you and Nagely," He loudly whispers. "well good news for you, now it's a triple date."

"Awww, you were planning to take Nagely out," Marie says. "Don't worry I'm sure he's got you when you guys get home." She winks at me. I put up my menu and stare deeply into it to hide my face. A little later the waiter comes back with our drinks and straws. Kevin passes my straw but it falls on the floor.

"I got it." At first, he tries to reach for it without touching me but then just goes limp. "Your thigh is really comfortable." He says before finally getting my straw.

"Thanks." I take my straw.

"It's all you."

"For my straw." I clarify.

"Oh, I thought you meant for saying-"

"I know what you thought I meant." I laugh.

"I'ma sleep on them tonight." He looks at me with seriousness.

"We'll see about that."

"You think I'm not, watch me." He puts his hand on my thigh for about two seconds then he turns to tell the waiter his order. Damn, these chills. "Whatchu getting?" He snaps me out of my thoughts.

"Oh, I'll have the burger and fries." The waiter leaves with our orders.

"This was supposed to be just us," Kevin whispers in my ear. I give a lopsided smile. "I'm gonna take you somewhere after this." He moves a strand of hair away from my face then gets distracted by the other people in the restaurant.

"Wait, we're going to Kev's?" Daniel asks as Kevin and I get out the car.

"No, just them." My mom tells him and he shrugs.

"Nagely." Mama Deb hugs me.

"Hi, Mama Deb." I greet her back.

"You're taking her upstairs?"

"Yeah. Where's Nana?"

"Shari took her shopping, again." She shakes her head. "But don't do anything flashy, huh." She taps his butt.

"Well, this is my room." He sits on his bed and I sit near him. We just sit in silence. "Sorry, you must be bored. I wanted to be alone with you but didn't think of what we were gonna do." He nervously laughs. "Let's just talk, and one thing will lead to another."

"What?"

"Nothing." He quickly says. "So you got any plans tomorrow?" I shake my head no. "Great, we can hang out again."

"Yep." I start feeling a little awkward.

"You're really beautiful, Nagely." He faces me and scoots closer.

"Thanks." I look down. He picks up my chin and closes his eyes. He starts leaning closer and closer. This time, I don't stop him. 

Shari does.

"Shari, what are you doing here?" He asks.

"Oh my God! you guys were gonna kiss!" She squeals with a wide grin on her face.

"Thanks for killing the vibe, sis." He walks up to close the door.

"Oh, I am so sorry." She whispers and closes the door. Kevin sits back next to me.

"So....." I trail off. He slowly nods until we start laughing.

"How about we do over?" He licks his lips and leans over. As soon as our lips touch it sends butterflies to my stomach. He gently pushes me back on the bed and starts hovering over me. His hands slide up and down my waist while my hands slide up and down his neck and back. "You don't know how long I've wanted to do this." He says. He kisses me again while taking off the button to my jeans.

"Nagely." My eyes shoot open to see Kevin in my face. I look around and realize I'm in my mom's car. "You fell asleep." Kevin laughs. I really just dreamed about that, wow. That was a dream. A small part of me, well not that small, wanted that not to be a dream. "You ok?"

"Yeah, I'm fine." I try to give a smile but my eyes dart to the left.

"Ok." He laughs again. "Let's go." He takes my hand and walks to his porch.
