Skylar
School... the torture we have to go through to make sure one day we'll get out of this hellhole and hopefully move to a bigger hellhole full of famous people. Day after day after day after day of routine in the hopes that we are made for something bigger. In hopes that one day the "popular" people will end up leaving school and not amounting to anything while you yourself bring about a cure for cancer, create world peace, write a bestselling novel and co-star in a movie with Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Preferably before you turn 40. Well that's what I hope for anyway.
I am weird. I go to a fancy private school with policies and rules regarding to everything. The students there are ruthless. One small problem with you and they never let it go. So I arm myself with rainbow hair and black converse in the hopes that they will stop them from noticing my stutter. Yep that's right, top drama student in the grade and I stutter.
It began in year 5 and it was only slight then. Showing up occasionally when I has to speak in front of an audience or if I was speaking too fast. By the end of year 8 it was becoming more and more prominent. I'm sixteen now and I can barely go three sentences without stuttering. This means if I want to audition for anything I have to be very careful. Once I realised that I wanted to act then I began to slowly and painfully teach myself to be able to answer basic audition questions without stumbling over my words. The actual performance pieces are easier, as long as I have practiced the piece of few times I can do it fine. I find that if I slip into the headspace of another character then I don't have a problem. I can breeze through, in all sorts of different characters and voices without a problem but as soon as I come back to being me BAM! I start to choke on whatever I'm trying to say.
It's because of this combined with the fact that I occasionally get into fights at school that my parents make me see a phycologist on the grounds of me having social anxiety. Ugh!
Other than school, drama classes and visits to my phycologist, my days consist of fanfiction, school, food and Thomas Brodie-Sangster. My favourite actor. You'd know him, he's been in everything. He's Newt in the Maze Runner, Simon in Nanny McPhee, Paul McCartney in Nowhere Boy, and assorted other characters in Love Actually, Game of Thrones and a number of British TV shows.
It's not just Mr. Sangster that I love. I am also a huge fan of Ki Hong Lee and Dylan O'Brien. Together they make up my three favourite characters in the whole world. The Gladers. Characters in the Maze Runner series. Thomas Brodie-Sangster plays Newt, Ki Hong Lee plays Minho and Dylan O'Brien plays Thomas.
My bedroom is papered with posters and merchandise and most of my t-shirts relate to some form of fandom. Usually Maze Runner.
I am a writer and a daydreamer. My favourite class is drama. I have the best teacher who chooses not to say anything when I get into fights outside his classroom, or mention the fact that my hair is rainbow or that my shoes are black converse.
Mr.Balmer is old enough to be a grandfather but he refuses to retire. Says he loves his job too much. He has silvery-blonde hair and a kind but wrinkled face. His voice is usually loud and happy but can also be kind and gentle.
He's the type of teacher who tells you he's got a surprise for the class the next class and you'll turn up to find costumes laid out with your names on them. Then you'll spend the next few lessons learning your character.
He's awesome.
