"Are you sure you're not hungry?" Mrs. Kirkland asked one last time.
Arthur shook his head and waved his mother goodbye with a smile. She quickly grabbed her purse and her phone, and was about to leave but then she came back inside.
"I love you, Arthur," she states as she pecks her son's forehead. Arthur nods and now, satisfied with everything, Mrs. Kirkland leaves for works.
Arthur takes a deep breath and flops down onto the couch. He hadn't been able to get any sleep, so he was tired as hell. And his mother rushing worried him a bit, so he was becoming a bit stressed out. What he needs is sleep, but what he wants, is a book.
This is what makes life harder for Arthur than it already is. I mean, Arthur had to learn sign language to first communicate, but then he learnt English as his second language. He's fluent in English as much as he is in sign language, so it makes his inability to speak a bite easier. It's just the typing that makes it not so good for him. But what makes life harder for him is choosing between what he needs, and what he wants. An example would be that the sleep deprived boy needs sleep, but he wants to read. Another, adding to the current situation, would be that the boy needs to eat, but he wants to sleep. I think you guys get the point of this useless paragraph.
Well, Arthur decided to not sleep or read; even though he regretted the decision as soon as he stepped outside the house. He was going out to explore the town some more since he had spent all day in the library yesterday (not that he regrets it). Besides, even if he hadn't met the boy yesterday, he still would've enjoyed his stay in the library.
It wasn't as hot outside as it was yesterday, so Arthur was grateful since he wouldn't have had anything to help him with the heat. Arthur walked for what seemed like ages before he came across a nice looking park with a playground. He decided to head over to the playground and stay awhile.
It was nice to watch the little kids run around and call out to each other as Arthur sat on a swing. He gently pushed himself with his feet so he was slowly going back and forth. He didn't do much on the swing except watch the kids as they played tag, or hide-n-seek, so it got boring pretty fast for him.
He got up from the swing and awkwardly left the park. It was a nice break, but Arthur didn't want to stay there forever. He didn't even know where was to go now. He simply wandered further into town hoping to find something that interested him.
It took a while, but Arthur settled on going into a small ice cream parlor. It wasn't crowded, which was good for him, since he didn't particularly enjoy being around people. He didn't see any 'no loitering' signs anywhere in the parlor, so he decided to simply sit down and wait until something exciting happened. He sat in a booth that was against the window so he was able to watch what was happening outside. But this time, Arthur didn't have to go anywhere because there was suddenly a familiar boy standing out side the window happily waving at him.
Arthur was startled at first, but he calmed down his heart attack when he realised it just the boy he met yesterday. He didn't have to signal to the boy to come inside either because Alfred was already inside in a flash. It surprised Arthur that Alfred seemed excited to have found him.
"Hey!" Alfred greeted cheerfully. He took a seat across from Arthur.
Arthur simply waved to his . . . acquaintance. It was weird for Arthur to have someone with him because barely anyone talked to him since he couldn't talk back. The only people that enjoyed being with him, were his friends back home, Kiku and Francis. Besides them, his family, of course, enjoyed being with him.
"It's good that I found you, Arthur, because I think that if we spent more time together, we can actually become really good friends." Alfred's smile made Arthur's heart race a bit faster. It was a weird feeling for Arthur. It was a forfeit feeling, but it was familiar (hint hint).
"Hey. Arthur?" Alfred's face heated up as he realised that Arthur was staring at him with an odd smile on his face. It was creeping him out a bit, so he tried to get Arthur's attention by poking his forehead.
Arthur was taken back a bit at first. His cheeks heated up a bit when he realised he was staring, so he immediately tried to avoid eye contact. It made Alfred laugh at how nervous the boy suddenly became. Arthur decided to take out his phone and open the notes thingy to finally type something for Alfred to read. He held it out for his, friend(?), when he was done.
*I think it'd be nice to spend more time together* Arthur had typed. He retrieved his phone when Alfred smiled.
"Then let's start now! I can take you to my secret hiding place, but you can't tell anyone, okay?" Alfred insisted, and got up from his seat. Impatiently, he waited for Arthur to get up. But when he did, it was at a very wrong time because he bumped into someone.
"Hey! Fucking watch where you're fucking going, bastard!" The boy nearly yelled. He was a new face for Arthur, but he was clearly familiar for Alfred. Behind him was his "friend," Antonio, who was friends with Alfred.
"Sorry about him! Lovi's not in a good mood!" Antonio apologised. He glanced from Alfred to Arthur and smiled.
"Yeah, sorry too," Alfred replied. He was about to say something else, but Antonio spoke up again.
"It's alright! But Lovi and I have to go, we're meeting up with Gilbert and some other friends in a couple minutes!" Antonio insisted. "Oh! You two should come by later, we're going to be at Roderich's house."
"Yeah, totally! We'll stop by later," Alfred agreed. With that, he watched the not-openly-gay couple leave the parlour. Arthur put a hand Alfred's shoulder and raised an eyebrow at him. Alfred simply smiled and just now realised how surprisingly thick Arthur's eyebrows were. "I'll explain later."
