|Brooke's POV|
It rang six times. I counted. The answering machine picked up. A frantic mother on the other side started speaking. "Chloe! Chloe! I hope to god you're ok." Pause. "Someone pick up. Someone!" Another pause. I started tearing up. I wanted to answer so bad but knew I couldn't. It took all my power to not run over and speak to Mrs. Lukasiak. I needed support right now, but I had to think off the safety of myself and my brother. One final sentence came out before the ending beep. "Please be ok, please GET ok." Then the hanging up of the phone. She was right. Chloe HAD to get ok. And I had to be the one to do it.
A few hours later:
"Josh, are you ready?" He nodded. We were packed for a journey to who knows where, to save people we love, the people we knew, people who were family. I had to do it for mom, myself, josh, Chloe, Paige, and the lukasiaks, especially miss Christi. I had to do it for her. She trusted us with Chloe for the weekend and we let her down. I let her down. There was no going back now. We were in it, and untill we got EVERYONE safe, there was no turning back. Not now, not ever.
