As my eyes slowly start to flicker open, I notice the sunlight pouring into my room through the open blinds. I turn to my left to see Emmett peacefully sleeping. He always wakes up a few minutes after me.

As if on cue, Emmett's eyes begin to open. When he sees me, a soft smile appears on his face.

"Morning, beautiful." He signs. I smile and give him a quick peck on the lips.

Then I get out of bed, wrapping one of my sheets around my bare body. I slip on a pair of my favorite high waisted shorts and a starbucks shirt. When I finish putting my hair in a high ponytail, I realize something. I shoot my head over to Emmett, still putting his shirt on.

"Oh my gosh Emmett, your Mother! You didn't tell her you were staying!" I sign.

"I told her last night, don't worry." He walks up to me and puts his hand on my cheek.

Just then, my door swings open and Emmett quickly takes his hand from my face, as I turn to face the door. I couldn't believe my eyes.

I know what you're probably thinking. But it's not Kolby.

My Father stood in my doorway, my shirt from last night in his hand. I must've left it in the kitchen. Oh, this is gonna be fun. I look from his scowling face, to my black sweatshirt. I fake a smile, and his gaze goes from me to Emmett. Oh no. Think Max, think!

"Oh my gosh Dad, thank you so much I thought I lost that thing!" I say and sign, and quickly snatch it from his hand. His scowl turns to a face full of confusion.

"When I was in the hospital, I had Peyton grab it for me and I must've dropped it on the way to my room last night!" I said, trying to sound realeaved. I fake andother smile, and his eyes dart from me to Emmett. Hm, I'm not bad! He turns his head and walks ot the door, closing it behind him. I relax my shoulders and turn to face Emmett.

There it is, that classic smirk.

I go to hug him, but my door opens again. But this time it's just Peyton.
