Mark decided it was his cue to leave when Ryan returned, so he made his way back to Matt.

"So I guess I'm winning so far in Operation: Get Us Super Hot Boyfriends", Mark said smugly.

"Weeelll, guess who kissed Ryan today"

"NO!"

"Yes!"

"Why did you guys even kiss?", Mark looked like he was still in shock as he asked me.

 "Some girl wanted us to for a picture", Matt replied.

"That's a little creepy"

"Ryan sure didn't think so"

"Neither did Anne last night!", Mark said with a grin on his face and a wink. If Matt never heard a mom joke again, it would still be too soon.

"Mark that doesn't even make any sense!", I said growing exasperated.

"I can't control myself dude, you're like 92% of my impulse control".

"You're lucky I haven't left you yet"

"You love me and you know it!"

Matt honestly prayed for Jack if he ever ended up with Mark, because he was pretty sure that Mark was actually 5 years old. Who knows, maybe Jack would find that endearing, or maybe he was a pedophile and Mark was the closest he'd ever get to a real child. Wait, what the fuck?

Sometimes Matt's mind would lead him to dark places that he didn't even knew existed. He was cringing at his own thoughts when he noticed Mark was giving him a weird look.

"You okay there buddy?"

"Yup! Absolutely fine! No weird thoughts here, haha", Matt replied quickly.

"Yea o-kay"

The day was drawing to a close so the two friends started making their way back to their hotel.

~~~
Matt was staring at his phone in sort of a trance when he started hearing snores from the bed next to his. He then glanced at the clock on the hotel wall and realized it was now one in the morning. That means he had been debating on texting Ryan for over an hour now.
Obviously there had been chemistry between them, Ryan was even the one who gave him his number in the first place. But Matt still just couldn't bring himself to send this freaking text.
He decided to end his late night contemplation session and turned off his phone. Matt had just started dozing off when he heard that damn phone go off.
Groaning, he rolled back over and looked at it. He had to squint at the sudden brightness, but when his eyes finally adjusted, he realized it was a text from the very guy who had been occupying all of his recent thoughts.
The text said hey, I couldn't sleep. you up?
Matt was quick to reply, figuring that there was no way he'd be able to go back to sleep now.
Yup! I actually couldn't sleep either.
Well its a good thing I texted u then lmao
Yea haha
Matt was starting to cringe at the small talk they were making. He decided that the universe was giving him a sign by having Ryan text him. With that thought, he decided to take a leap of faith.
So that kiss today was pretty great haha
His fingers hovered over the send key. The text itself wasn't that risky, but the kiss still kind of hadn't sunk in yet. By bringing it up to Ryan, that would somehow make it real. He closed his eyes and counted to three in his head, then tapped the stupid button.
Yea I actually haven't been able to stop thinking about it
Matt was about to reply to that when he saw the bubble with the ellipsis pop up again. He immediately backspaced his hasty reply and let Ryan continue.
Do you wanna go out for dinner tomorrow?
He stared at his screen for a solid 5 minutes before he actually understood what Ryan sent him. He didn't even have time to form a proper response before his fingers started moving.
wait like an actual date??
lol yes like a date
yea of course!
okay then I'll meet you around 6?
yea that sounds great!
Matt couldn't help but smile at his phone screen. When he came down to the convention just two days ago, he never thought he'd be leaving it with a possible boyfriend. Even Mark had been able to start talking to the guy he'd spent years crushing on.
They might not have left Comic Con with boyfriends, but there was definitely a start to a relationship waiting for both of the two friends.
Looks like Operation: Get Us Super Hot Boyfriends wasn't a fail after all, Matt mused to himself, before finally drifting off into sleep.
Author's Note
Yes sadly this is the end of my story! I actually never planned to make it more than a oneshot, but all the feedback from you guys convinced me otherwise.
Thanks to all the readers for sticking with me even though I updated it so slowly!
