He got his alter ego name "Slim Shady" After being introduced to Jeff Cooch who everyone called "Shady" due to it being his favorite word. One day, Eminem calls his former manager and tells him the name "Slim Shady". His manager tells him to go with it and from that point on, Slim Shady was born.
Eminem created his alter ego because he wanted to put his own words that he was thinking and have a reason to say them because usually the thoughts were dark like in his song "Kim". In his song "Kim" he is describing how he is killing his wife Kim Mathers. He also kills Kim in his song " '97 Bonnie and Clyde". His alter ego Slim Shady allows him to say these things and rap about them because In his mind its not really him saying it.
