"Oh Child, you scared me," Toriel breathed.
You stand in the bedroom doorway,"I'm sorry."
"Don't be, I have something for you child. Come to the kitchen," she says and disappears down the hall.
You follow and stand cautiously by the table, waiting for Toriel to pull herself away from the fridge.
"Please sit, you have been sleeping for a while, you must be exhausted, how's your shoulder?" she asks quickly.
You sit yourself in the chair, hands folded in your lap. "I can't feel anything."
"You're ok child, I gave you a certain medication that takes away the pain, it's so strong that you feel a little numb, but it's fine," she waves you off.
Toriel sets a pie in front of you, her face beaming with joy.
"Ta-Da! It's a cinnamon and butterscotch pie! I hope you like it, oh I'm so happy your here child, it's been a while since the last... Um. Please eat, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!"
A fork lies in front of you and you take it, slicing into the pie. You take a bite and your eyes widen, it's delicious! It warms your mouth and sends delightful vibes through you. So you eat and eat, finishing at least three slices. You felt as if you haven't eaten anything in days. Toriel is pleased with you and starts to clean up. When she isn't looking you wrap up two slices and shove them in your bag for later.
You're stuffed and tired again, you could sleep. But you still don't know where you are or how to go home. Getting up you head into a room where Toriel is sitting in a rocking chair. She has glasses perched on her nose and a book in hand.
"Oh hi Child, care to join me?" She asks.
You walk over to her and peer at the book she's reading.
"It's about snails, they are so useful you know. I have so many old books to share with you, do you like to read?"
"I love to read but... Miss Toriel, I-I have a question, where am I?" You asked.
"In the ruins dear," she answers.
"Oh... I-I've been having such a good time with you Miss Toriel but... I... I wanna go home," you say, voice cracking.
"Home..." Her eyes glaze over,"But child, this is your home now."
You back up, tears forming," N-No! I want my real family. Y-you're not my mother!"
Toriel looked devastated, hurt. Tears welded up in her eyes as she stood, her glasses and book falling.
"But child, you can't go back... T-there's no way..." She choked.
"Toriel there has to be a way! I wanna go home!" You cry.
"I've seen you humans come and go, and they all have the same faith." She said emotionlessly.
You wipe some tears away with your sleeve,"W-what happens to them?"
"They die."
Your heart dropped.
"H...how?" You squeaked.
"Asgore, the ruler of this world. He despises humans like yourself. If he got his hand on a human he would use their soul to... You can't go or else you will die," she pleaded.
"What do I do... I want to go home, I have to leave. I must... Stop Asgore... But I need help... Can't you help me Toriel?" You urged.
"I-I can't, you see, Asgore use to be my husband but... I just can't, and you can't either child, you will surely get yourself killed, and I won't allow that," she said harshly.
"I don't want to die, but what about my family? You have no idea how much I miss them..." You sniffle.
"Dear child, I can relate. I use to love Asgore, and my son... And... And my daughters, but they all have broken before my very eyes. You... Are all I have left..."
You pause, poor Toriel, she has lost everything. But so have you.
"Tell me Toriel... Why does Asgore want to destroy me?" You sit in front of her as she settles down and sits in her rocking chair.
"Child, you humans locked us away because you were afraid. There is more to the story that I do not wish to explain that resulted in my children... D-dying.... Now Asgore seeks revenge on the humans and collects their souls. He has eight, but his plan failed due to one of the souls not being enough so he seeks one more. You are the last soul he needs. I know this because... She has led you here..."
You cock your head," who led me here?"
Before she could reply a banging was heard at the door. Toriel jumped in fear and grabbed something from her dress.
"T-they're here! Child! Take this and run!" Toriel cries, handing you a cellphone.
You blink before stuffing it in your bag.
"Child! Go downstairs and run. Don't go back, no matter what!" She said sternly, tears running down her face.
As you see this, tears start to fall from your own eyes. The banging gets louder until you hear the door get busted down.
"LeAvE!" She screamed.
You turn and run down the stairs, tripping over your own feet. It gets darker and darker, shouting is heard above. You want to cry and scream for Toriel but you hold it and keep running like she said. It was a tunnel now, dark, your footsteps echoed. But you saw not to far away that there was an exit, leading to who knows where. You stopped in front of it, an uneasy feeling washed over you.
"FiNd ThAt HuMaN!" You hear someone boom.
It's your only way out, so you go. Not looking back.
