Three - Renovations and School

"Okay, hold it steady now." Sans said as Undyne and Papyrus set up the ladder. Using his magic, Sans teleported on top of the slightly rickety ladder. It wobbled a little, but Undyne and Paps held it steady.

With his magic, Sans immediately lifted several paintbrushes into the air and began to paint over the repaired wall, hiding the few cracks that they couldn't fix, and giving the room a nice blue color instead of the beige plaster.

"Sans, if you were just going to use your magic, then why did you need a ladder?" Undyne asked.

"I dunno. I guess I thought this ladder was UP to something, so I figured I'd get ON TOP of the situation." Sans punned (yes, I know they're awful, but they're all I could think of off the TOP of my head).

"SANS! WHY?!" Papyrus yelled, trembling out of rage. The ladder shook, and Sans immediately fell off of it into Undyne's arms.

"Looks like I've FALLEN for you, BASS." Sans said as Undyne dropped him. Papyrus shook harder, and the ladder immediately fell apart.

"Oh Papyrus," Sans laughed, "you really should try harder to keep yourself TOGETHER, we wouldn't want you FALLING TO PIECES, now do we?"

"SANS STOP ALREADY!" Papyrus raged. Sans took the hint and stopped.

Now that the room was finished, Mettaton and Toriel immediately began to bring in furniture. Sans, Papyrus and Undyne, their work done, left and began towards the next room, where Alphys and Muffet were just finishing up repairs to the circuitry, floor, walls and ceiling.

The moment they entered, Muffet handed them a bucket of pink paint. Sans, Undyne, and Papyrus immediately set to painting the walls.

This continued, from room to room, until each and every room was repaired, painted, and furnished. Even Muffet tidied up the webs in her room, and with all the other spiders, painted the walls purple.

Now that the inside was finished, the monsters quickly began to improve the backyard, putting in new fencing, tending to the lawn, and setting up a small garden.

Once that was done, all the monsters got together in the backyard and gathered for a group photo, with Frisk in the middle.

"I wish I could go to school with you, Frisk! It seems like so much fun!"

"Yo! Make some friends while you're there, okay?"

"Welp, seems like it's finally time. Have a good day, kiddo." Sans said as he tousled Frisk's hair.

Frisk nodded, and walked out the door, lunch in hand. Turning around one last time, Frisk waved to the mansion, excited-and slightly nervous-about their first day if school.

At school, it didn't take Frisk long to find the principal's office. After waiting a few minutes, the principal came up to Frisk, and kneeling down, said, "Hello. You must be Frisk. I'm Ms. Olsen, your principal. I'll take you to your class now." Frisk nodded, and took Ms. Olsen's hand as they were led to the classroom.

Ms. Olsen opened the door, and led Frisk into the classroom. "Hello students." She chirped. "This is Frisk, who'll be joining you all."

The teacher, who seemed to radiate an aura of friendliness, looked down and smiled at Frisk. "Hello sweetie, I'm Ms. Wormington. Why don't you go sit over there?" Ms. W pointed towards a desk near the window, and Frisk, smiling, walked over to their seat.

The principal said goodbye and left, and then Ms. W continued the lesson.

After a little while longer, lunchtime came and Frisk immediately dug out their lunch. Inside was a peanut butter and snail sandwich from Toriel, a healthy mixture of chopped veggies from Undyne, an apple provided by Sans, and a spider donut from Muffet.

As Frisk ate, they noticed the girl next to them, Chara, was just sitting there, no food in front of her. She looked at Frisk, and they smiled, offering some of their lunch.

"Thanks. I guess." Chara muttered as she munched on a portion of the veggies. Frisk smiled more and offered half of their sandwich, which Chara began to chew on absentmindedly.

When they were done, it was time for recess, and all the fourth graders immediately rushed outside like there was no tomorrow.

Once Frisk had finished eating, they made their way to the coat closet where the door leading outside was. But Chara grabbed the sleeve of their sweater, giving it a slight tug.

Frisk turned around, and saw Chara smile for the first time. "Thanks for the lunch, short stuff. Do you... do you wanna play with me?"

"Of course." Frisk said, smiling. Chara seemed genuinely happy, and together, the two friends made their way outside to play.
