Chocolate Love

Chapter One

I sighed as I turned around and rest my head atop my hands which was on my desk.

Betrayal.

They both betrayed me.

I heard a giggle behind me.

I felt the burn of tears threatening to fall but I fought it, well I fought it until the bell rung. I ran from the classroom to the nearest bathroom. I went and locked my self in the last stall and poured my heart out. First I was angry then sad then I finally accepted it.

They are together, my best friend and my grade school crush.

I unlocked the stall door and went to the sink to wash my face I looked in the mirror.

My name is Zoe Lancaster, I'm five feet 3 inches tall, I have an light brown completion. I'm average looking with light brown eyes, straight but small nose and full lips.

"Whhyyy?" I groaned out loud.

I stared at myself for a while. I need to go home I thought, and that's what I did.

When I got home Nana ran into the living room just as I closed the door "child what is wrong with you" Nana asked.

"Nothing" I answered as I made a bee line for the kitchen.

" This doesn't look like 'nothing' " she said making reference to the huge tub of coffee flavored ice cream that I pulled from the fridge. " Child you can't lie to me, I know that something is wrong because I feel it in here" she said pointing to her heart.

Fact is Nana and mom has this weird ability to know when something is horribly wrong.

I started to tell her how my supposedly best friend Monique stole Jackson away from me just because she knew I liked him.

"Zoe" she said " I know you like Jackson and all but to be honest hun, you are definitely not his type, I mean look at all those curls! Have you ever thought about taming them? You're eyes are too innocent looking! Girl you will never get a man with the way you look and your goofy ways."

Nana came up beside me and pulled my hair out of the high ponytail I had it in. Then she ruffled my mane. "Zoe you are beautiful, smart, sexy, and fun. If that Jackson boy doesn't want to be with you well it's his loss and your gain" Nana said.

" I don't think so" I mumbled into my chest.

Nana gasped and took me by the hand and dragged me out the breakfast nook in the kitchen. " Look at me" she said sternly.

I looked into her honey coloured eyes and sighed.

"Zoe bear, you are the best thing any guy could ever ask for. You might not meet him now or next week but he is out there waiting for you princess."

I smiled at her words.

"That's my girl" she said patting my cheek "now I'm going to call that friend of yours from next door and don't interrupt me, I'm calling her to take you shopping tomorrow, God knows you need it. Go to bed and I will call her"

I kissed Nana in the cheek as I turned and rushed upstairs to my beige bedroom. I plopped face first into my bed exhaustion took over my body and I feel asleep.

I woke up to the sound of Nana knocking on my door telling to hurry because my neighbor is on her way over. I groaned when I realized that I'm still wearing the clothes from yesterday. I sat up slowly and looked around my room.

I am a nature freak. I mean I have bits of twisted wood on my desk different types of leaves framed and hung on my wall there is even a painting of a meadow with wild flowers growing and bees buzzing around them and at the edge of the meadow there are large twisted trees with the leaves falling off.

I quickly took off my t-shirt and my sweats that I wore to school tied my hair up, brushed my teeth and jumped in the shower. By the time I was finished I heard the doorbell ring. I quickly pulled on a black tee with white skinny jeans and a pair of all-star. I brush my hair and put a tad bit of lipgloss on because my lips were dry and I couldn't find my lip balm. As I ran down the stairs I heard Nana laughing at something my neighbor said.

My neighbor's name is Tein. She attends the same school as me. Tein is a 5 hellball of a red head. I mean she will be laughing with u this minute and the next minute she will be choking the God given daylights out of you. She has a slender frame and has emerald green eyes. (I would kill for eyes like hers). She has a light dusting of freckles across her cheeks that stood out to the pale contrast of her skin. Her bow shaped lips turned into a smirk as she set her eyes on me.

Uh-oh.

"Zoe!" She screamed as she ran to hug me.

"Oof" I said as she slammed her body into mine and giving me a death grip of a hug.

"Need air!" I puffed out.

"Sorry" she said apologizing as she let go "I haven't seen you in a long time and when I do you are always in a rush but I'm glad that we are going to get some girl time" she said smiling.

I started to feel guilty. Tein is a really nice person and I have been ditching her almost every chance I got.

"Tein, Zoe I want you both yo go and have a good time. Here is my credit card have a good time" Nana said handing me the plastic.

"Thanks Nana" Tein and I said. Nana had insisted that Tein call her Nana.

As we turned to go out the door Nana called to us "oh and girls, don't hold back on the shopping, Zoe I expect to see some decent clothes in those shopping bags when you get back. God knows those dang sweats are getting on top of my last nerves"

I groaned while Tein giggled her butt off.

"Come on" I said as I grabbed her wrist as we headed to her car parked in our drive way.

"Zoe, Nana told me what happened and I'm sorry. That bitch was mean but I know a way to get over what happened."

"What?" I asked dreading her answer as her eyes lit up.

"You are going to get a total make over" she said as I groaned and got in the car. "Best day ever!" Tein squealed as she got in the drivers seat.

"Do I have to?" I whined.

"Yes you do and we are not holding back. When I'm done with you you are going to be a totally different person on the outside" with that we drove off in the direction of the towns only mall.

"Oh what fun" Tein muttered as I turned up the music.
