Chapter 4~Here Comes The Bride

When we got back everyone threw a big fuss and there was a celebration filled with cherry pie, which had been siting in the Flock House's refrigerator the whole time! Of course. I'm still a bit frustrated that I fell for their little trick, but that seems like it happened so long ago, another life, like it was read to me in a picture book as a child. Anyway, now that we got past all that mushy emotional stuff, did I ever mention that I'm not a big fan of mushy emotions? All the crying and vulnerability. Well, so now it's time for some more! Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it.

So, back to the thing before about me being nervous? Remember that? Well I still am. I've been nervous for this day ever since Fang proposed, the day I've been looking forward too and dreading my whole life, my wedding day. There are many things I hate about weddings,

1. All the crying and emotions(we've been over this)

2. Sitting through the priest talk about mushy stuff.

3. Dressing up and puffy dresses.

I asked Nudge, who was planning the wedding to try and make it as casual and short as possible. When I asked Fang about this he responded with, "Whatever." Followed up with that famous grin of his, still exactly the same as when we were just a merely 14 years old.

We were having the wedding outside in a cove by the tree village that was expertly rebuilt after well, you know, the whole apocalypse deal. The cove consisted of a few large trees, vines and other plants, a small beach, and a waterfall running into the ocean. I'll have to admit, Nudge had done an amazing job with the decorations. White lights hung from the trees and perched on the jagged walls of the cove. White chairs were set up in perfect rows facing an arch dotted with small light blue, green, and purple flowers. The same flowers were spread across the beach and lining the waterfall. All in all, it was simple but beautiful, perfect.

Total convinced me to let his wife, Akila be the flower dog, and him be the ring bearer. I mean, Angel's too old now, and we don't really know any little girls. Their pups, Jax, Russ and Moki will be a problem. I know Total wants them to attend so hopefully someone will come up with a plan so they don't go crazy tearing things apart. Yes, they do that.

I want it to be pretty small, not too many people. Of course the flock will be there, also coming will be my mom, Ella, Jeb, the dogs, Cliff, Dylan, the emergency team and the sprite priest. The sprites are not fairies but they're 50% humming bird and are only from around 6 inches to a foot tall, so you can see why we call them that. The sprites are mainly messengers, who zip from place to place delivering letters, packages, or sometimes oral messages, but some took up other jobs, for instance the priest.

The wedding would be in just a few hours and at the moment Nudge was getting ready to show me my wedding dress. Please let Nudge have found a non-poofy, non-fancy dress. I wait in anticipation and she strides up to me, a grin stretching uncontrollably across her face.

"Tada!" Nudge cheered and she whipped around to face me with the dress in her hands. Lets just say that it was just what I was hopping for. It was a simple white sundress with thin straps and a flower pattern along the skirt.

"Put it on, put it on!" She squealed.

"Oh all right." I say, grabbing the dress. Nudge frowns as the hem drags along the sand.

"Max, come on its premium fabric."

I snort and lift it up as I slip into the small birch shack, that was built to hold two toilets and a sink.

The dress fit perfectly, but it still didn't feel natural. I couldn't help but wonder if a dress would ever feel "natural" to me. Glancing in the small mirror on the way out, I froze. For a moment I honestly didn't even recognize myself. The short dress hugs my slim curves and actually makes me look a bit, pretty? Is that the word? More like harmless, weak. I scrambled back to Nudge, tearing my eyes away from the mirror.
