Chapter 6~Newly webs

After the wedding we all flew back to the pre-decorated Flock house for cake, dancing, and boat loads of fun! Yeah I know cheesy, but hey us adults need a little childish fun in our lives every once in awhile. I noticed and was disturbingly bothered by the fact that Dylan was not present among the small crowd that had gathered for appetizers. It all seemed to slip my mind though, as Iggy proposed to Ella. It was an emotional affair(yes another one)which made me glad that Fang asked without anyone else around. An illuminated disco ball was hanging over the large balcony where the dancing was underway. Fangs hands fitted lightly on my waist, mine around his neck. I rested my head on his shoulder as he whispered in my ear, his lips brushed my skin as he spoke.

"So your my wife now." I smiled and looked up into his dark, blue flecked eyes. Fang gently kissed my forehead and sighed. "Doesn't seem like that long ago when we were just 14 years old." We rocked back and forth to the music, occasionally whispering back and forth. Dancing normally was not a strong suit of mine, or something I enjoyed, matter of fact. Although, the way the music seemed to glide its way through us as Fang lead me back and forth, let's just say the peacefulness was surprising.

The view from the large wooden balcony only added to the romantic night. Golden sunlight blazed from the setting sun, casting a warm glow over everything out of the shadows. A few other tree houses were visible from this position, including mine, which is also Fang's now. Construction workers including cyborg men and primate mutants had added a few corridors between our tree houses, morphing it into one gigantic mega home. My mind started to wander, thinking about my life. Yes, my life. No more running, no more saving, now we just, live. Happily.

That's when a sprite zipped up to the party, out of breath.

"Oh no." I mumbled to Fang. We walked over to the sprite hand in hand, followed by a concerned Nudge, Cliff, and Angel.

"Lady Maximum! Oh Maximum!" Gasped the sprite in that high pitched voice I've come to hate, "I am so sorry to interrupt your personal life, but we have an immediate emergency!" I sighed tightening my grip on Fang's hand. There hasn't been anymore trouble with evil power hungry humans, or mutants for that matter, so that was good, but now with the new unstable world there was constantly either a tornado, land slide, earthquake, etc to deal with. I have to admit that its a bit more fun kicking butt then evacuating a town in the path of a hurricane.

"There has been several explosions from what we theorize to be dangerous gasses that were trapped in air sacks underground. Many mutants and humans alike are either trapped, under rubble, or in danger of inhaling these gasses. We need you to extract the toxic chemicals from the air and assist with freeing the trapped." The sprite handed me a programmed gps that would lead us to the sight.

I sighed again as I saw how far away it was. If we left now there would be no way for Fang and I to return in time to catch the helicopter taking us to the island we had chosen for our honeymoon. We could probably manage to fly, but the island was far and would take awhile to get there, if we did that as soon as we arrived we would have to head back. Nudge must have recognized my disappointment. Grabbing the gps she said,

"No. I'll go, you enjoy your honeymoon." A determined expression set on her face. Which somehow was still adorable even though she's seventeen. I sucked in a sharp breath. Nudge, off her own, with out me. Fang squeezed my hand reassuringly. She is 17 and we could really use that vacation, he seemed to say. Also, no matter what I say, I don't think I could swing her choice. I tried to reply but was interrupted,

"Nudge I..."

"Don't worry, I'll go with her." Cliff said, resting a hand on Nudge's shoulder.

"Aww thanks babe!" Nudge squealed, gazing lovingly up at her boyfriend. "Uh I mean uh...." She blushed and looked down at the gps, fiddling with the controls. The sun had dissolved past the horizon, and the moon along with the shimmering disco lights sliced through the darkness.
