I clip a rose from the rest of its stem and I took a long look at it. Things here seemed a little bit more peaceful or not, I still wasn't sure about it. I smell the rose, looking up then remembering what Laito said to me last night, still haunting me.
"You were sent to us as a sacrifice."
Why would my parents ever send me here as a sacrifice? Did they send Aiden too or was it just my howl that made him come up here? Did my own brother even agree to this?
"Piper." Kanato calls out then I turn around, seeing him behind me.
"Hey, Kanato!" I greet. "What do you need?" I ask him.
"Please pick up those roses when you're done and follow me." Kanato requests.
I stand up and bunch the roses together then follow him. We walk into a graveyard and stop in front of someone's grave.
"What are we doing here?" I ask Kanato.
"Graves are very dark and have the smell of death all over it. I like graveyards because they're quiet." He tells me then he looks back at me. "Do you?" Kanato asks and I shrug.
"I have bad memories of graveyards, but I do like quiet places when I need it." I answer.
"I see." He responds. "Please place those roses right there." Kanato requests then I walk next to him and lay the roses on the grave.
"Whose grave is this?" I ask.
"My mother's."
"She passed away?"
"I killed her." Kanato answers then my eyes widen.
"I'm going to head back." I tell him as I stand up and I begin to walk away.
"Why are you so self-serving?" Kanato asks then I stop and turn around to look at him.
"I'm sorry?"
"I especially invited you here, but you leave the second it displeases you. You have a lot of nerve to do that!" Kanato shouts.
He then picks up the roses and starts hitting them on the grave, destroying the roses. Petals fly everywhere as the stems snap and my eyes widen.
"Stop it!" I command as I walk over to him. "Quit reacting to the smallest things, Kanato!" I exclaim then he stops and looks at me.
"You have no right to order me around, lousy mortal!" Kanato exclaims and I growl.
"I am not a mortal, I'm immortal! My grandparents, my mother, my father, my aunts, and my uncle are immortal! My mother is a goddamn combined god! My father is a vampire!" I argue as I step towards him. "Why do you think I always fight back and I don't coward away like a mortal?!" I question as I clench my fists.
"Why do you keep on acting like you understand me?!" Kanato asks.
"Well, it's not my fault that I actually care about people!" I argue.
Kanato walks closer to me, making me pull out both of my swords and back up. I trip over a gravestone, falling backwards then one of my swords punctures my hand.
"Goddammit!" I yell as I pull the sword out of my hand and sit up as Kanato laughs.
"That's incredible, Piper! You should see how pathetic you look!" Kanato comments and I growl.
"Yeah, I look pathetic with a severely injured hand." I remark.
"Piper, you are very sweet at times. And you're hard-headed and I like that about you." Kanato compliments.
