Chapter One

"Sarah can you come down here please?" My mom yells from the living room. "Sure,  I'll be down in a minute," I yell back from my room. I quickly put my laptop down on my bed and go down stairs.

When I walk in the living room I see my mom and dad sitting on the couch. "What is it mom?" I ask. "Honey you better sit down," my dad says. Okay, well this isn't weird. I quickly sit down next to my mom and ask,"What is it?" "Well, your father and I have been thinking and.... well...we need to tell you the truth," my mom says while holding my hand. What in the world is she talking about? "Tell me the truth about what?" I ask. My mom quickly sighs and then says,"honey.... your adopted." WHAT!!!

"Why are you guys only telling me this now?!" I yell."We were afraid that you would try to find your real parents or run away or something," my dad says. WHAT!!! "Are you mad?" my mom asks quietly. "Of course I'm mad," I yell. My dad sighs and then for some reason my mom starts to cry. "I'm mad because you guys are only telling me this NOW," I yell. "We're sorry, we were just... scared," my mom says while holding my hand again. I quickly calm down and say," I forgive you, but guys you shouldn't of been scared to tell me this, I mean...I feel like you guys ARE my real parents and you guys will ALWAYS be my real parents and I love you guys," I say while hugging them. "We love you to sweetie," both of my parents say.

"But there's more," my dad says. Okaaaay. My dad continues,"for our honey moon we went to Hawaii. One day we went to the beach to go snorkeling, but instead we found a baby just laying down on the sand next to the water. Sarah.... that baby was you." WHAT!!! "So I'm actually from Hawaii?!" I ask surprised. "Yes," both of my parents answer. I was shocked. I didn't know what to say. After a while all I could say was,"wow."

After all of that drama I go back up stairs and go straight to my phone. I call all of my friends and tell them to meet me at our regular hang out (the mall).

After ten minutes of driving and listening to Fall Out Boy in the car I finally reach the mall. All of my friends were already there sitting by the Dip-In-Dots cart.  I walk over to them and quickly sit down next to Drake. "Guys I need to tell you something really important,"I say very seriously. "What is it?" Piper asks. "Well..... I'm adopted, my parents found me by the water while they were in Hawaii for their honey moon," I say. "I knew it," Laura yells. "What?!" I ask surprised. Laura gave me a sorry look and says,"sorry... it's just that I've always kind of known that you were adopted, I mean it's kind of obvious." "What do you mean it's obvious?" I ask. Laura cocked her head and then says,"Sarah, you look like the COMPLETE opposite of your parents." "Right,"I say quietly. 

"So when did your parents tell you the big news?" Drake asks while holding my hand. "Earlier today, I was trying to research different colleges, but then my mom called me down stairs to tell me the big news," I answer. 

Piper suddenly stood up from her chair and says,"speaking of colleges..... I have huge news to tell you guys as well." After five minutes of us just staring at her she finally continues,"well, I got into a really, really, really good school in New York and my aunt's best friend who happens to live in New York said that it would okay for me to come live with her and get this... she has a son MY age, named Mathew and he's sooooooo cute!" "It sounds like you're more excited about the boy part then the college part,"Laura says laughing. Piper smiles and says,"no, no I'm excited about both."

"So you're going to college ALL the way in New York?" I ask. "Yep,"Piper says happily. "But I thought we said that we would all go to college in the same area, so you know we don't have to do that long distance thing," I point out. Piper sighs and then says,"yeah I know, but this is HUGE, I mean we're talking about New York Sarah." "Yeah I know, but hey we're ALL happy for you..... I'M happy for you.... I really am happy for you," I say trying not to look sad.
