Pathway of the Unbelief

I felt like a idiot, confessing my real feelings twords her, she probably thinks I'm a big dork or something. But to my surprise, she didn't.
She rapped her arms around my neck and held me tightly. I could hear her let out a sigh along with a small chuckle. "I love you too." She whispered back.
I smiled, and held her back. I've never been more happier than to hear her say that. I wanted this moment to last forever as we held each other, but we eventually stopped.

Just then, we heard rustling footsteps coming closer to us. Kansas and I prepared our weapons and slowly walked twords the sounds. I keep kansas behind me for safety as we moved. When we got close enough, I aimed the gun at the source of the sound. It became visible as it came closer, it was Hunk!

I sighed with releaf to see him, but he didn't seem so well. He had scratch marks on his shoulder and he started to limp. Hunk finally reached to us but he whined the whole time. "What's wrong boy?" Kansas said to hunk, gently petting his head.
Besides from hunks shoulder, he seemed to have a huge bite mark on his back. It even looked a little swollen. "He must of ran into that monster somehow." I said showing the bite to kansas. I wasn't sure if that creature truly bit him, and mainly I didn't care. I was just glad my dog wasn't dead.
"The jaw line looks pretty big. But the wound doesn't seem to be deep." She informed me. "We could of gotten him fixed up, if the house was unlocked." I told myself, still angry about it.

After awhile, we stayed in the gurage and started to get tired. I decided to stay up, in case of the creatures return. Kansas cuddled next to me as she pasted out, hunk feel asleep on my lap. They both seemed very comfortable, I certainly was. I wanted to sleep as well, but I snapped out of the thought. If I closed my eyes at that moment, then that thing would of had its chance to attack.
I can't seem to remember much as I stayed up. I must of been so tired, that I blacked out a few times. But I do recall of my parents car pulling up in front of us.

When we all woken, me and kansas told my parents everything that happened. We told them about the thing killing kyle and josh, it chasing after us, and the strange lab. And did they believe us, of course not! They thought it was some kind of little prank we were making up! But we weren't making it up!
"I'm telling you it's real! It even got hunk, look!" I persisted, pointing over at hunks wounds. They did seemed convinced at the bite, but they said that it wasn't enough proff. "Look Adam, I love the fact that you think that this is humorous, but do you really think we'd fall for it?" My mom said with her arms crossed.
"Mrs. Foster, we're not trying to be funny! Kyle and Josh are really dead, there body's are possibly out in the woods as we speak!" Kansas informed. Within hours of begging them to believe us, kansas's parents were called to pick her up and my father went into the forest to find the others. He eventually found kyle's corpse, but found nothing of the abandoned lad or of josh's body. My parents called the police to investigate further into it, but they only found our camp supplies.

I then remembered Kansas, scaring the monster, by flashing the camera at it. Maybe it saved some pictures! I knew that police officers looked through things when they investigate, so I figured they would of found the pictures. After awhile, they offered me to ask a few questions about something. Of course I accepted.
They showed me a picture, of the monster holding me and josh in its hands, its mouth drenched with blood and it's eyes sharpened evil like. "This is you in this picture, correct?" The office asked, gluing his eyes on me. I nodded in response, I wasn't expecting to talk about this to the police. If I explained it to my parents, then the police wouldn't believe me either!
"What exactly is that, in the middle?" He continued, pointing at the monster. I studered. How was I supposed to say this, would they even buy it if I said the truth? It was worth a shot. "That's....the thing that attacked us last night. It's what killed two of my friends." I was nervous. "That thing? That's what murdered your friends?" He said, almost repeating me. "Yes!" I let out. I calmed down and explained everything.
"So this kansas, dose she remember any of this?" He continued on. "How would anyone forget something like that?!" I answered, still nervous about them believing me.

Weeks later after the police investigated, hunk has been getting sick and he sleeps more often now. We recently visited the vet and it turned out that the bite he gotten was poisonous. And he might possibly die. I was extremely upset, hunk was one of my best friend's I had since childhood. But as my mother would say, everything can't live forever.
Although I wished that wasn't true sometimes.
I told kansas about it, she wasn't happy to hear it. But she was glad to see me not harmed, thou I imagine that I wouldn't be safe for too long. I tried to warn my parents about it but, again, I fail miserably.
My little brother even makes fun of me and calls me names. Something like, 'Monster Boy' or 'Little Sissy'. It gets annoying most of the time but I ignore him. One of these days, he'd be paying his respects whenever that thing comes along.
But now I regret ever thinking of that....
