“Uh, Tobes… Why are we at a hospital?” I asked, now ignoring Justin being in the car.  My heart felt like breaking at the sudden recognition of his face the moment I saw him, and even though I wanted to pretend that nothing has happened, that no time has passed and that nothing came between us, I knew….about him and Chase, about it all, and it continued to break my heart as the vision of him in front of me, I realized was not part of my imagination, but that he was really there, unashamed.

Toby muttered to himself and I heard Chase’s name before he looked up at the hospital.  He shook his head, and smiled, “Oh, look, a hospital.”

Clearly the kid needed some therapy.

“Yeah… a hospital.” I said.  “Why are we here?”

“Why do you think we’re here?” Justin then turned and gave me a look,  he watched my face, but I ignored him, and looked to Austin.

Austin was Toby’s first name.  But he never used it, using his last name-Toby as his name for years and years while we grew up, he only used the name Austin when Chase, Justin, and I first became famous… sort of like a secret identity.

A lot of things have changed now.

“I’m right here you know.  Staring at you.” Justin muttered, but I couldn’t look at him, how could I?

I hated him.

I hated Chase.

“I’m not going in, unless you tell me what’s going on.” I said, folding my arms in front of me.

“Jolie, would you fucking just do something not for yourself for a change?” someone said, but to my surprise it was Justin who said it, and Austin looked shocked.

“Stop crying about the fact that I left, and get in there.” He said and got out of the car and walked toward the hospital.

Austin, speechless, thought for a while, sitting in the car before turning back to me.  “It will make a lot more sense to you than it will to anyone else.”  And with that he also got out of the car and walked at a leisure steady walk toward the hospital.  His walking slightly swaying, as he walked on his tippy toes, Chase used to call him twinkle feet for this, but all the girls thought it was his ‘swag’.

I watched him, and it reminded me of the childhood memories of all of us being crazy and stupid together.  Well, Chase, Toby, my brother, and Justin.  I didn’t partake in their idiocy, but it seemed Chase was just the opposite and usually created the idiocy, coming up with things to do and what crazy adventure to mark upon.  She convinced Jolie to partake in a few things like doing the milk challenge, and jumping in the lake fully clothed… well, I wouldn’t call it convincing me, but convincing the laws of gravity, when she grabbed me and pushed us in together.

I shook my head at how I wanted to forget ever letting Chase into my heart, she wasn’t worth it.  She was trouble, from beginning to end, I should have known.

I looked out the car window at the hospital.  Was Justin’s mom sick?  Was my brother in there?  Did he fall and get hurt again?

Overwhelmed with worry for Mrs. Rebecca, Justin’s mom, I practically jumped out of the car, outside of the car though… I was less confident, how would his mom being sick make more sense to me than it would to Justin?

If it was my brother though… but why would he be here?

Stuck in a limbo of what I should do, I reached for the door handle of the car to think inside the car instead of the middle of a parking lot, but the door was locked.
