The past few days have been...for lack of better word, agonizing. I have made a serum to flush out the wolfsbane in the Alpha's blood stream, gave him some of my own magic to help the healing process, and his wounds are now closed. However, he is still very sick with fever. He has been delirious and has been lashing out.
I wipe at my eyes as I sit in this incredibly uncomfortable chair positioned right next to the Alpha's bed. I gazed at his handsome face as he sleeps almost peacefully. My long hair once again was tangled in his large fist. Almost every time he woke up he would start roaring and attacking the members of his pack. His Beta has been leading the pack while he's out and there are several warriors guarding the Alpha's tent. The pack members are a bit worried, but from what I've seen they are confident he will recover soon.
My eyes drift down to the tribal tattoo of the sun on the Alpha's chest. It was beautiful and if I were a weaker woman I would have touched it, following the patterns with my fingers. I sigh and look away from him.
This wasn't exactly how I was hoping to spend my fall break. I think back on the events that happened today...
The stares and glares I get from the pack are actually different from how the humans in my town would stare at me. The humans would stare with hate, disgust, or even fear. There were even a few cases of indifferent attitudes they would give me. I would go to the grocery store and I would be ignored at every check out lane to the point where I could only use self-check out.
Here, I would get stares of curiosity or distrust. I walk through the pack and roll my eyes at the wolves. I've been healing Alpha Savage since the moment I got here; you'd think I would earn some respect amongst these wolves, but nooo 'she's an outsider' 'she's a witch' 'she can't be trusted!'
I continue walking and something or someone bumps into me. I look down to see a small girl with big tears rolling down her chubby cheeks. She has the signature sun kissed skin all wolves seem to have with light brown hair and simple henna patterns on her hands and fingers. However, her hair was knotted as if it were grabbed and pulled on while the rest of her was covered in dirty and scratches. I look over behind her and see a group of kids who look to be around her age but bigger than her in size. The group of kids were either in wolf form or in skin, whom I noticed were carrying rocks. Ah. I see. I look back down at the cowering girl at my feet, she must be the runt of the pups in this pack.
I glance back over to the kids, who appear to be absolutely freaked out by me, and give them a hard glare. They yipped away with their tails between their legs. I can only imagine what they're going to tell their mothers.
I sigh and kneel down at the poor girl. She wiped her eyes with her little fist and sniffled at me. I give her a soft smile.
"Hello, sweet pup. What's your name?" I ask softly.
"I-I am Larentia." She stuttered.
"Well, my name is Diana. It's nice to meet you." I smile at her. She looks at me with complete awe, with her mouth wide open and her tears forgotten.
"You...you're the lady who's helping the Alpha get better, right?" She asked, her eyes shining with excitement.
I laugh softly at her reaction and nod. The nicest person I've met in this pack is the smallest wolf of them all. I asked her if she wanted to see a trick and she was eager to see what I had in store. From the satchel I was carrying I take out some juniper that I had stored away. I showed it to the young girl and she sniffed it, making her sneeze.
I chuckle at how adorable the curious little pup is and place the juniper in the middle of my open palm, then place my other hand on top of it, covering the juniper. I focused my energy and magic on the piece. I felt the energy swirl and the juniper flip around and twist in my hand until I felt a small flutter.
