you say you love me
but you breathe fire when you lie
i feel the heat on my arms
the flames licking my face
every time you whisper your deception.pretty little falsehoods
wrapped and ribboned,
wrapped so neatly.
tidily packaged and delivered daily.you swear you're mine
as i am yours
but, shivering and sighing
your eyes reveal the truth -
the delight you take in torturing me.but despite myself
i am drawn back
to the folds of your disguise.beneath a cloak of deceit
i remain
unable to tear myself away.
for although your words are never truthful
i can be guaranteed
that you will never drift away
from your heartless consistency.

PoetryI feel like this deserves a disclaimer ... I'm not some hopeless romantic or anything like that - in fact, I'm a cynic at heart. But occasionally I sit down to write and somehow end up with love poems *shrugs*
