I tossed the orb across the room, the delicate glass shattering as it fell to the ground. “No! What is going on?” I fell to my knees, the red magic swirling around me. “I never asked for this! He… He cant still be in love with her! They parted many years ago, so why is he acting on his feelings for her now? He’s supposed to be in love with me, not a peasant like her!”
Lucifer stood in the corner, his hands behind his back. “Princess, why are you acting like this? The prince is young, still experimenting what he can do without getting in trouble. You must understand that. You did the same thing when you were young.”
“Silence!” I roared. “Lucifer, you will learn to hold your tongue. This has nothing to do with you, so stay out of my way.” I rose, my nails digging into my palms.
“Perhaps you should go and rest. Eat. You will feel better.” He murmured.
“No! I will do what I must to ensure what I want will be here. Send for Dixon-Keith. I must speak to him.”
“as… as you wish, milady.” The door clicked shut.
I opened my palm, lightning flickered across it. I wouldn’t hurt the boy when he comes. No, that would be too hard to deal with. The full moon spread her fingers across the tiles, hitting the edge of my dress. Blasted moon. It never has done anything to help me, the moon goddess never blessed me.
My stomach gnawed on itself. My canines hurt, and I could taste the blood filling my mouth. Its that time of month again. I must go and eat, its been too lng for me to go without a meal for over two months, but I suppose I must wait a while longer until I can feast on the creatures I call my people.
“Goddess of the moon, your curse upon me will not help anyone. You bless the girl with silver hair, but you make me hunger for the thing that helps people live. What is it that you and the other gods want from me? I never asked for any of this!”
But the moon was silent, its goddess not bothering to reply.
My throat was burning now. The love of blood will make me go crazy, and Dixon-Keith will not be my victim this month. If Jane is to fall in love, it will be with the butler, not Zane.
