The Goddess looked around, her face filled with pain. "This is not right, the girl should not be punished this way. I never had hoped it would have come to this, and i dont wish to have to destroy anything. The child has been punished enough already." The gold door opened, revealing a man, his face was beautiful, like the sun. He wore golden robes, and his hair was gold as well. Even his skin had gold undertones. His eyes strongly contrasted the Moon goddess's.
"Viirin, you must stop doing this to yourself."
"But how, Ankale? This is the only way i can feel connected with these people. And i want to be around them. Sure, my wolves always listen and are the most fearful creatures in battle, but i dont just want to be the Luna they always listen to. I want to be friends with someone who is mortal, and doesnt automaticly ask if i need anything. I dont want that kind of relationship anymore."
Ankale Wrapped his arms around her, like a lover would. "I am the one who watches everyone throughout the day, and the Elven people are not for you to mess with. You have blessed three people, and their lives have turned for the worst. Two of them are dead, the third is never able to love again. This saddens me, and i do not wish for you to get hurt while trying to help others. Stay with your wolves, and the vampires you have created when you were angry. Those are your people."
"No! I do not wish to stay like a loyal dog to them anymore. I want what you other gods have, where you are loved by all. I am feared, all because i created things that can kill. Its not fair! I wont accept this anymore. Why must you all hate me?" Viirin pushed him away, her chest heaving, tears threatening to fall.
"If you cry, then your stars will fall, and the people of Ebony Hills will not know why they fall. They dont realize the stars are your hidden tears. You dont want to spread panic, do you?"
"You are the sun. What do you know about panic? You see battles, you see death and mourning. I will no longer help the gods. They are foolish, and they do not see what the night sees."
"Viirin. Dont do this. I am your--"
"My what? My husband? My lover? All the same, all different. I dont care anymore. I will bless Jane, and you will not stop me. She is already my child, her hair proclaims it, and her father's great grandmother is my daughter. She is my kin, and you will not deny me that. I denounce your love. I denouce the gods."
"WHy are you acting like this? You dont think anymore, do you? There is a price to pay for any blessing, whether it be your cost, her cost, or someone else. I dont want anything to happen to you." He grabbed her wrist. "Dont do this, Viirin. I will have to report this to the others."
"Like i care! Sorne will do nothing but punish me, and his talons will not cause me anymore pain. I will seek my true husband, and you will not follow me, and i will not be a god like you. My place is not among you. This has shown me the truth. I will bless those i see fit, and you cannot stop me. Ankare, I had loved you, but it is over. Jane is in trouble, and i intend to help her. Begone! I will no longer have you around."
"Is that all you see of me? I am just another lover to you, another man to sleep with? Do you realise what is happening now, of all times? An eclipse! We are supposed to be working together, and my people are worried. You feel some emotion, right? So feel the pain i am in. Here, in my heart. You have caused this, and i do not wish to have it happen again. I will no longer supply you with light if you leave."
"Then so be it. I would rather have a broken heart and dark eyes than be full of light." Viirin hissed, her hand ripped out of his grip. "Thats all you guys use me for anyway, light. I will no longer accept this as my fate. I will disappear, and then you will have to deal with my people going crazy. Thats all i am, just a source of light. But not anymore, and i am disappearing, and you are not following. Good-bye, Ankale. Its been nice being a goddess." Her clothes changed. Instead of skin-tight leather, she wore an elegant ballgown with stars embrodered onto it. Her eyes sparkled, and her hair was swept into a bun. A black cape covered her shoulders. She pulled up the hood, and instantly, the white glow that had surrounded her vanished.
Her form started to ripple. "Viirin, dont do this! I love you. Please dont leave." Ankare cried.
"Let me go, and all will be well. My place is among the stars, as you all have said, and thats where i am. I live eternally in the heavens, and you cannot stop me. Goodbye, forever." She wrapped the cloak around herself, and was gone.
Ankare fell to the ground, clutching his heart. His hands clentched and his knuckes turned white. He screamed a warcry, pain rippling throughout his entire being. "So this is the end, i've drowned and dreamt this moment, but i never thought it would happen. The others will never forgive me, and i will have to take up the balance of sun and moon. I will not allow anymore pain to come to her, and Jane is the last bit of peace my love has. I will not allow anymore of this to happen, Sorne will not hurt her, and i will ensure that. To save Viirin, we must keep the elf alive, so help me.
"Viirin may be in the skies with her beloved night, but i am the sun, and i see all. I will protect my own as well as hers."
