Chapter 18: Under Control

"Oh come on. Just drink already. Come on, this self-detox is not natural." I heard Damon say as I walked up the stairs to Stefan's room.

"Can you get that away from me please?" I heard Stefan reply.

"Seriously do you want to die today Damon?" I growled entering the room to see the glass of blood Damon had in his hand directed towards Stefan. "Because you're just asking for it."

"Good morning to you too Roxanne." Damon rolled his eyes as I glared at him. "So Stef, how long did it take you to wean yourself off it the last time you indulged?"

"Don't listen to Damon, how are you doing?" I asked.

"I'll be fine; it just takes a little bit of time." Stefan responded to both of us.

"I don't get it; you know, you don't have to kill to survive. That's what blood banks are for. I haven't hunted in a human in... God way too long." Damon sighed.

"Oh, like that's supposed to impress him?" I asked.

"It's completely self-serving. I'm trying to get the town off the trail of vampires which is not very easy considering that there is an entire tomb of them running around." Damon shrugged.

"What are we planning on doing about that?" Stefan asked continuing to do push-ups.

"We are not going to do much of anything if you don't have your strength. There's nothing wrong with partaking in a healthy diet of human blood from a blood bank. You're not actually killing anyone..." Damon suggested.

"I have my reasons." Stefan replied calmly.

"Well, what are those holier than thou reasons? You know, we never actually discussed this. You know, I'd- I'd love to hear this story.." Damon smiled sitting on the couch.

"You're really enjoying this, aren't you? Watching me struggle?" Stefan responded.

"Very much so." Damon replied happily.

"I hate to break it to you Damon but... I actually have it under complete control." Stefan nodded but I could tell something was wrong.

"You do? Well, then you should just carry on, making the rest of us vampires look bad." Damon nodded getting up off the couch. "Have a great day, Stefan and as well to you Roxanne."

"Go to hell Damon!" I replied.

"Planning on it." He replied walking out of the room and I realized he left his glass of blood behind and Stefan was staring at it. "Oh, hey, almost forgot something. Oops."

"He's just testing you." I said to Stefan.

"Well he's doing a good job of it." Stefan sighed.

"So when are you planning on school? You know, that thing normal teenagers do?" I asked.

"Soon." He nodded. "What about you, shouldn't you be on your way to school today."

"I'm avoiding." I replied and he looked at me confused. "My Uncle John is in town..."

"And we don't like Uncle John?" He questioned and I smiled in a nod.

"We despise him." I nodded.

"So what was that whole deal with Jeremy the other night?" He asked.

"They figured out what killed Vicki.." I nodded and he looked at me with wide eyes. "Hey, don't freak. They wouldn't really say she died from a vampire... She ODed.."

"That's a relief." He replied.

"Yeah, not for Matt and his Mom... She's kind of freaked out." I replied. "But any ways I'll let you get back to your work out."
