Phil
"So you live with someone else, right?" I asked Dan that afternoon. He was a really nice guy, and I hoped I would actually see him more often.
"Yeah, my friend PJ let me stay in his apartment for a while, but now I'm actually looking for an apartment myself. He is kind of annoying," he said, laughing.
I felt an urge to ask him if he would like to share this apartment with me as my roommate, but I was afraid of what his reaction would be. We had just met, but it felt like we already were really good friends. I liked him, but I didn't know what he'd think of me.
"Are you sure you don't want something to eat or drink?" I asked again.
"I'm fine, really," he smiled at me. He had dimples when he smiled, which was very cute.
I looked at him, again. Dan didn't look like he was knocked down by my car. My car had in fact more damage than he had. But I was glad he was okay; he was unbelievably lucky he wasn't dead.
DanThe next morning, someone knocked on our apartment door. PJ opened the door, and I heard Phil's voice. I rushed to the door, and asked PJ to leave us alone. He looked at us, suspiciously.
"It's fine, Peej," I said, waving with my hands, as a sign he should go back to whatever he was doing. He shrugged and walked away.
"Good morning," I said, smiling at Phil.
"Hi," he said. He looked a bit nervous and I wondered why. "Do you mind coming to my apartment? I want to ask you something."
I nodded, curious about what he wanted to ask.
"I know we have just met each other," Phil started when we entered his apartment, "but you said you wanted to live in an apartment without your friend, so I was wondering if you would like to share this apartment with me."
This wasn't something I expected him to ask, but it seemed so much better than living another week with PJ. "I would love to," I said. "Thank you, Phil."
He blushed, and looked down. "Do you think your friend will be mad at me?" he asked.
"He will get over it," I said, because I knew that PJ wasn't going to like this. But whether he liked it or not, my new roommate would be Phil.
When I told PJ I was going to share an apartment with Phil, he had a poker face, again."Dan, don't you think that's a terrible idea? A vampire and a human sharing one room?" he said.
"I can control myself now," I said, trying to convince him, but also trying to convince myself. I knew he was right, but I hadn't killed anyone that wasn't supposed to be my dinner. That was quite an achievement, right?
He sighed. "Do whatever you want, Dan, but make sure he doesn't find out about us."
