Dan

I was ready to tell him everything. I knew PJ told me that Phil shouldn't find out about us, but right now, there was no way around it. I had to tell him.

"It's okay if you don't believe me, Phil," I said before I started explaining.

"What do you mean?" He looked at me, confusion in his eyes.

"I don't believe in the supernatural," I said, "So I didn't believe PJ..."

Phil didn't let me finish my sentence. "PJ? What does PJ have to do with this?"

I sighed. "We are both vampires."

I stared at his face, looking for any sign of shock that didn't seem to be there. He didn't seem to want to run away either. He just sat there, silent.

"Say something," I said when he hadn't said anything for what seemed to be too long.

"I don't know, Dan... What am I supposed to say?"

"Maybe that you don't believe me or that you're scared..." I said, stating the two obvious things a normal person would say.

Phil smiled. "If I say that I don't believe you, you're probably going to show me that I'm wrong, and... I'm not scared of you, Dan."

"You should be."

"Why?"

I looked at him in astonishment. "I thought you watched a lot of Buffy!"

"Yeah, I do, but... I don't believe that you're a monster, Dan."

"You don't get it, Phil... I can kill you any moment, and you wouldn't be able to stop me."

He kept staring at me with his blue eyes. "I love you, Dan."

"Yeah, right, even with my dark side?" I asked sarcastically, but there was no sarcasm in Phil's answer.

"Yes," he said, "Even with your dark side."

It felt a whole lot better now that Phil knew the truth about me. Like a heavy burden had fallen off my chest.

I still needed to control myself if I didn't want to drain his body. When he was close to me, I could hear his heartbeat so loudly in my ears, and felt his blood flowing through his veins when I touched him.

We were playing Halo 2 in my bedroom when he suddenly kissed my cheek.

"Are you distracting me?" I said, and looked at him. "Because it's definitely working." I pushed him, so he fell with his back on my bed. The game controller fell out of my hand as I leaned over him, kissing him on his lips.

"Maybe we should continue our game...?" He looked at me questiongly, raising his eyebrows and laughed.

"Hmm... yeah, we should," I said.

"I actually meant the videogame." He laughed and his tongue stuck out of his mouth, which was very cute.

"That can wait."

We still lay in my bed, Phil's head on my chest, when he suddenly asked: "Isn't it hard? Wanting to drink someone's blood when he's laying beside you?"

"Unbelievably hard," I said, smiling at him.

"How often do you need to?" he asked.

"We can survive a few weeks without blood, but drinking once in a few days helps us to keep it under control," I answered, and wondered why he asked this.

"When was the last time you had some?" He looked up at me, with his giant puppy eyes.

"Phil, I hope this is not an interrogation," I said and laughed. "Why do you want to know?"

"I was just wondering... But when was the last time you had some?"

"Last week."

Phil sat up straight as he unbuttoned his shirt.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"I don't want to spill blood on this," he said, smiling at me.

How could he be smiling at me? I knew what he wanted to do.

I felt the urge within me, the urge to bite him and taste his blood, but I couldn't give in. I couldn't hurt him.

"Phil, don't tempt me," I said. I struggled to keep myself under control.

"Dan, I can see you need it. You have more trouble controlling yourself than usual, so just drink a little, okay?" he said. "Do you want my wrist or my neck?"

"Phil!" I screamed. "You can't be serious!"

He held his wrist in front of me. It was so appealing... I looked at him, and he nodded. I took his wrist, my teeth sinking into his skin and ignoring Phil's cries.
