Clay POV: ❄️
Dad said our mother could control water. She was so good at it, that she could even transform into a liquid state of aqua. She was gifted. Then she married an ungifted man and had us three. A set of triplets: Two boys, Sean and I; and a girl,Kate. You wouldn't have thought Kate was a triplet with us. Sean and I were tall and blonde with straight, short hair, but Kate was short with long brown curly hair. The only thing that we had in common with Kate was that we were all gifted just like our mother.
Sean could manipulate electricity, Kate could manipulate fire, and I could control ice. We were not as good as mom though. Dad would always say we haven't reached our full power potential yet after we'd train for hours. Of course no one except dad knew about our powers. Since mom disappeared years ago it has been just us. We stuck together since we weren't allowed to have friends. (Dad's rules) He was scared they would find out our secret.
It was pretty obvious to tell though. We all had a symbol imprinted on the back of our right hands. Mine was a snowflake, Sean's was a lightning bolt, and Kate's was a flame. We all wore fingerless gloves to hide the mark but keep our hands free for our power came only from our hands.
We've almost been caught before. The SHIP ( the Super Human Investigation Police) has been on our trail since the playground incident where I accidentally froze a kid and when Sean stuck a paper clip into the electrical socket during math class and didn't get shocked. Then Kate set our old high school on fire while trying to warn her cold Mac and cheese in the lunchroom. Dad was very good at coming up with logical excuses for our mishaps.
We're sixteen starting today and we've had to move about 12 times. At the moment we lived Harve, Montana. That's when our worst slip up happened.
