"So? What does it say? Dean?" Cas knocked on the bathroom door as the hunter yelled back at him. "Give me a minute, Cas! I haven't even open the damn box yet!"
Cas sighed, backing away from the door and leaning against the wall with Sam sitting at the foot of the bed, head in his hands as he waited just like the angel.
A couple minutes passed as Dean exited the bathroom, blowing out a huge sigh before closing the door behind him. Cas and Sam rose to the hunter's presence as he responded with a bold look of surprise and worry set deep in his face. "Now we wait. Two minutes is what the box said."
Two minutes felt like two hours, how it turned to smoke in the air and felt like choking them out with the inevitable of what may come from the test.
Dean returned to the bathroom, looking to his watch to see the required time passed and to look at the test. The hunter choked on his own breath, feeling like hands were clamping around his neck as he read the result. Positive.
Shit. The hunter thought. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit. Shit!
Pacing the bathroom, silently chewing on his thumbnail on one hand while he held the test in the other, waiting and wondering how to break the news. How to tell them he was pregnant.
He opened the bathroom door, hearing the creak of the hinges as it slowly swung open. Dean averted his eyes to the floor as he would barely look to his brother and the angel, both trying to get his attention as they both wanted to hear the results. But seeing that his eyes would not meet theirs, they already knew the results.
"So? What is it, Dean?" Cas asked. Dean gazed back up to the pair, taking the test out from behind him and showing them the results. "Positive." Was all the hunter said.
Sam ran his hands over his face, overwhelmed by the news as Cas stood in place with wide eyes and clammy palms.
"So, you're...y-you're pregnant." Sam began pacing the room, Dean refusing to move as Cas was still frozen in place while the younger hunter tried to figure out everything from how it happened to what will happen after the baby is born. How it would all fit together in some sort of scattered puzzle. Then again, that was their life. It was a scattered puzzle of cases, motels, and the road. How would a baby fit into all of that?
"Okay, this is...this is different. We'll need to...we'll need to do..." Sam's voice trailed off, not really knowing where to go from where he started.
"Sam, if you wouldn't mind, I'd like to have a talk with Cas." Dean asked, the angel staring into space with his fists still clenched and jaw locked. Sam lightly nodded his head, leaving the bedroom and leaving the angel and his older brother.
Air seemed to leave the room with the younger hunter as both of them started to choke on the nothingness that sat between them, just the two of them and the results of the test.
"Cas, this was a mistake-"
"No! No, it's not a mistake, Dean! I may have rebelled from heaven, but I still believe in life for all beings. This, " Cas pointing to Dean's stomach. "Is not a mistake."
Dean sighed, running his hand through his hair then sitting on the bed and clasping his hands over his mouth. Deep, deep down, Dean always wanted a child. He always wanted a little baby to hold in his arms and call his own; to look into their eyes and see a world of change for not only himself, but for the baby. He didn't want it growing up only knowing the hunting life. But it's all they knew as well. Dean really didn't have a choice, abortion or adoption.
"What are we gonna do? I mean, we can't keep it." Dean said, earning a pursed lip smile from the angel. "We'll figure it out, Dean. We have nine months-"
