Hermione-
Thankfully there aren't many people out today, there are only a few people in the leaky cauldron. I walk to the counter ignoring the way everyone's head turns my direction. "Can I have two cauldron cakes please?" I ask Hannah Abbot. "When did you start working in the leaky cauldron?"
She smiles as she puts my food in a bag, "Old Tom Passed during the war, I took over for him." I wince at yet another death, and tears prick my eyes as Fred crosses my mind again. I push him from my mind for now and reach into my beaded bag to dig out my wallet. "That's a shame, at least you managed to keep the Leaky Cauldron open."
Hannah looks a little sad as she nods and gives me my cakes. I scurry to a table in the back corner beside large window, as I nibble on my food I watch the few people who are out today run from shop to shop. One figure stands out more to me and I can't help but stare. He was dressed in muggle jeans and a black jumper, he stuck out like a sore thumb among all of the older wizards wearing their cloaks. Other than myself he was the only one wearing muggle clothes.
I shake myself from his image and finish my last cake keeping my attention inside the building. A few more people have arrived and the tables were starting to fill up. I shot a few glares at the people who were staring at me and zipped my jacket up a bit higher as I prepared to enter the chilling air outside. As if mother nature could sense my sour mood, winter was approaching much faster than normal and even though it was the tail end of summer it has felt early winter for two weeks now.
I stood and gave Hannah a wave before rushing out of the store to get this shopping trip over with. Even though I owned most of the books required for seventh year my first stop was the bookshop. All of my textbooks were hidden away in my parents attic, and I can't bring myself to go to the house where they died. Knowing that it was Belatrix that got to them confirms that the scene awaiting me was not one I am, or could ever be, prepared for.
As soon as I stepped into the shop I felt a small smile grace my features. This was the last place Fred and I went for a date before I had to go horcrux hunting with Harry and Ron.
Fred came bursting into Ginny's room. "Hermione! I'm bored and I need inspiration for my mischievous ways!" He dramatically sank to one knee and took my hand, "Please do me the honour of going on a date with me."
I laughed at his outrageous way of asking me on a date and quickly agreed, with one condition. "Only if you take me to the book shop, I just finished all the books I brought with me and I need more." He rolled his eyes and stood up bringing me closer to him, "I suppose that we could go to the bookstore if you really want to." I answered him with a smirk and a peck on his cheek.
He smiled and tucked my hair away from my face, "Only Hermione Granger could convince me to willingly go into a bookshop" Before I could respond to him George walked into the room, "Are you telling me you wouldn't go into a bookshop for your favourite brother!?" Fred pulled away from me and looked back at his twin, "Not in a million years."
I wipe a few tears from my eyes and walk up and down the aisles picking out all of the books I need for the year. As I made my way down the last row of books I spotted Luna attempting to hold a cell phone in between her shoulder and ear while looking through a book. "Yes Rolf I know what I'm looking for, Even your grandfather's book doesn't have nargles in it!"
Luna listens to the person on the other end of the phone for a few minutes before answering again, "Alright Rolf, I can't handle your moodiness right now. You need to get all of the wrackspurts out of your head before we go on our trip to the United States! I'm hanging up!" She struggled with the phone for a few minutes while Rolf talks loudly on the other side trying to get Luna to listen.
"Here Luna let me help," I say as I take the phone from her hand ending the call for her. "How have you been lately?"
"Oh! I've been wonderful, I entered a program this year with Rolf Scamander and Draco Malfoy to go to the American school instead of Hogwarts this year!" When she said Hogwarts her demeanor went from it usual dreamy expression to a somber one.
This caught my attention, "Like a foreign exchange program?" I would love to never have to set foot in Hogwarts again and still finish my education. Nowadays the old castle is accompanied by too many bad memories.
"Is that what the muggles call it? Yeah I guess so. We are actually looking for a fourth person to go with us, would you like me to sign you up?" I feel a bright smile forming on my lips, "Luna I would love that!' I exclaim jumping forward and encasing her in a hug. "Okay Hermione, we can go tomorrow if you would like? We leave in two weeks so it would be best if you signed up as soon as possible."
I can't help the giddy feeling that starts to fill my systems, I don't know if its being in the last place I went with Fred or the chance to escape and start over but I quickly agree before she can change her mind about inviting me. "Tomorrow is perfect Luna! Stop by The Burrow around 10:00 tomorrow morning?"
After Luna and I leave the shop I finish up my shopping and make my way to the candy store to pick some licorice wands for Mrs. Weasley. As I'm walking in the store I see the person I was watching earlier at the leaky cauldron walk into the store. I rush in after him, but he has already disappeared into the rows of sweets.
I sigh as I accio some licorice wands to my basket and pick up some bertie and bots every flavor beans on my way to the register. After I check out I head back to the leaky cauldron to floo back to The Burrow.
Hello everybody, I know it's been over a year for the like three people who have been patiently waiting for an update but I warned you in the beginning that updates were slow! Anyway I just wanted to say that if there are any spelling or grammar mistakes please tell me, I will not be offended. Thanks!
